I ended up placing the amps back-to-back, unplugging one of the Crate's speakers, stretching the wires to the Ampeg's celestion. It sounds a little better...:o

Nope, I can only see the ohmage. They are wired in parallel. I called Crate, and the kid says that as best as he can tell, they are 8 ohm speakers. So I should then just wire the celestion in parallel with whichever speaker sounds the better?

I'm poor and I need more volume! I have an Ampeg combo gutted (it's fried), and I am (hopefully) going to use it as an "extension" cab for a Crate, but I am going to disconnect the two speakers in the Crate (blown), and instead plug in the celestion currently in the gutted Ampeg. The Celestion...

I was going to start a new thread, but the question at hand still pertains to the same combo/wannabe-extension-cab! Basically, I have two combos. One has blown speakers (Crate 2-12's), the other has fried guts (Ampeg w/Celestion 1-12). The blown speakers appears to be, as well as memory...

Yeah, it seems to me that the top two in the 4x12 are blown. Took off the grill, cranked it, and it's definitely farting-out. I'll have to get by on a 2x12 for a looooooooooooong time before I can affort to repair/replace the 4x12. suck...err...such is life.:(:D

I have an ancient peavey 4x12 cab I'm hoping to be able to use. I say "hoping" because last night at practice (first practice with this "project") it sounded like putrified pig pussy, and I'm fearing a blown speaker. I'm heading over to scout it out in a minute, but was wondering what you guys...

I hate "drop-tuning" personally as well, but I've been in situations (as I am in now...) where the other guy is VERY used to playing in drop-tuning. You certainly can come up with some intersting riffs, but it always feels...like I'm cheating...like it's fake!:eek::rolleyes::D
