Behringer UMX61, Presonus Firebox, and Cubase LE

Hmm.. what are your pc specs? I don't think the problem is your controller keyboard.. I think maybe you're lacking processing power here.. You don't need a midi input on your controller unelss you're going to use your DAW and other midi devices to trigger the actual audio from your keyboard...

    I need alot of advice

There is no shortcut here.. the posts above are great and I've scoured them over the years.. great stuff there.. but some other things that will speed up your learning curve: 1. Audacity is ok.. but it's very limited.. I would look at going with a more comprehensive DAW sofware such as pro...

    Good, cheap compressor for vocals?

Well I'll throw in my two cents here.. Honestly.. I don't think purchasing a hardware compressor is going to satisfy you the way you're hoping. This all depends on a lot though. What kind of music.. is it just for you or is it for clientel that you record.. is it primarily for vocals or will you...

    New Behringer tube condenser mic?

I've never used any behringer mics.. I did use a behringer pre a few years back, and it was noisy.. Of course you never know until you try it.. but the way I look at it.. there's got to be a reason sweetwater won't sell Behringer stuff.. In the experience I've had with Behringer.. I stay away...

Mic Input gain vs ouput vs mic input on digi 003 factory

LOL.. well I'm afraid I've become a bit too attached to the german to let it go, especially now, and all thanks to you.. that being said, I most certainly will buy your album.. I would be glad to.. and I'll let other people hear it who will be likely to buy it.. shoot me the link and I'm sold...

Mic Input gain vs ouput vs mic input on digi 003 factory

What an unbelievable diference!!! As absurd as my problem was.. stacking the pre's like that.. you have no idea how much trouble it caused a crossed the whole spectrum of recording for me.. the instruments as well since I was mixing them to horrible vocals.. nothing for the instruments to do...

Mic Input gain vs ouput vs mic input on digi 003 factory

I'm quite certain that you have likely solved my problem %100, but let me make sure I understand.. So I was under the impression going xlr to 1/4" trs to input 1 was no different then 5-8.. I thought only the xlr input went through the pre on inputs 1-4? So then truth is that the 1/4" in's 1-4...

Mic Input gain vs ouput vs mic input on digi 003 factory

Ok.. something I have struggled with repeatedly is understanding gain staging.. specifically my trouble is that I don't think I truly grasp the application. My setup is a u87 through the isa220 into the digi 003 factory the isa provides 0-60db gain at the input stage and then the digi 003...

    Can't hear MIDI in playback

Well how are you recording it? Are you using an aux track going through a bus to an audio track by chance? If that's the case then double check your output bus on the aux track is set to the right bus that the audio track is receiving.. I had this same issue two nights ago, and that's what it...

mac G4 and digi 001 on craigslist for $500....

I would say it is certainly an attractive offer.. HOWEVER.. you can never be too careful.. if it looks too good to be true.. well you know how the saying goes.. You have to decide if it's money well spent.. If the equipment is in perfect working order than that is a very good deal.. maybe.. if...

    are you using PT 8?

I'm a giant fan of 8.. The new Air plugins are great! The elastic Audio features are sooooo helpful.. You can do so much with them.. It's wonderful to be able to treat audio files like midi.. warp them.. make vocal stutters.. automate tempo changes with different algorhythms for different...

    What monitors do you use?

I have some lsr 6' with "room mode correction" and the 12" floor sub.. this is an excellent sollution to mixing in less than ideal rooms.. I love them, and would recommend them to anyone.. furthermore, I had the event tr 8" prior to getting the JBL's.. small world.. it was a huge step up for me...

    DAW Setup for recording

Those are nice, some of them.. I have a digi003 Factory and it's ok.. but looking back if I had it to do over again I would get a rosetta.. excellent quality interface.

Calling Harvey Gerst / Vocals / Room treatment

That is excellent!!! I'm stupid excited to try this out.. I'm glad it is something that has been done and tested.. excellent little boom attachment there too.. I'll order that with the mic.. Thanks very much!

    High-pitched whine

Well, I don't think four years old is necessarily too old.. depends on your specs.. but if you already have a new pc on hand it couldn't hurt to try it out and see if it fixes the problem.. if it does great! If not at least you've eliminated one possiblity and are that much closer to the fix...

    Behringer CF2000?

    Vocoder help!

Reason has a good vocoder.. you can get better results a long the same line with auto-tune though.. espeically live.. you can let your midi drive your vocal and play whatever melody on your midi controller..

    Where to upgrade my studio

nice Rig.. I think the MA-200's would be a great score no matter what.. If I had all of what you have.. and I do currently use the digi 003 factory and intend to do this myself soon.. I would upgrade to an interface with better converters.. I'm looking at going to a rosetta right now.. or you...
