Rick, it really sounds good. How did you set up the mic placement on both the guitar and vocals?

Will the microphone yield the sound? I'm thinking that back then, things were either cut on metal plates or wire. Tape didn't arrive until after WWII. So will the mic be responsible for the sound or the recording process? Seems like the things I've heard recorded back then were a step above...

Fold the edges. Cut the cloth about an 1/2 to an inch extra on each side, wider and longer than what you need, then you fold the excess under. Kinda like pant cuffs only folded on the inside. Or the hem on curtains.

If you're looking for isolation, it ain't gonna happen. There are a lot of folks in the Studio Building forum, too, that will help you out if you're looking for a booth.

sunflute, As a fellow CEMC6 owner, I'm happy to hear the good results. I am hearing a little rumble,though, at the start of the cuts. I've heard this when recording into a computer using the machines standard sound card. Any chance your Creative device is adding this?

The Gefell M930 is a good mic in that price range. What are you using for a mic pre?

Looks like you used MDF, correct? What are the dimensions? And what are you using as a ceiling inside the booth? From the photo, it looks open with only a blanket hanging down.

I tried out the M930, AEA R84 ribbon and the Soundelux u195 when I was shopping. I agree with the comment on the AEA needing some help with EQ, so I passed. On the other hand, it was a really tough choice between the Soundelux and the Gefell. But, I went with the M930 and have never regretted...

I like 'em. I have two of them. For around $80, I think they're a great value. Then again, what will you be using it for? I use mine strictly for voice work.

Knightfly, true , it did not specifically mention plastic. I was going by this quote and figured it applied to plastic:

Have you chalked or outlined the booths on a floor. They look like they may be a bit cramped, considering the layouts. Once you add a mic stand, music stand and chair, it may be very tight. Also, you may find that the 'reflective' sound you'll be looking for may actually be too boomy or bassy...

I started building the one following the plan on TapeOp. I haven't got to finishing the power supply. I couldn't find a WM-60 so I substituted a WM61 capsule which another set off plans indicated was okay. The reason I haven't finished is that I got pulled into a couple of other projects...
