Fake Drums. How bad is it?

The sounds themselves are fine IMO. I think it just sounds too busy. The little cymbal parts sound great, but sometimes the beats themselves sound like they came from a different song. I think here is where KISS would apply. A more simple part would be better IMO.

What does this song need what should change?

IMO that 1 2 3 4 beat is too monotonous. It's good as an intro, but I don't think it can keep people's interest for a whole song. Try a variation of it after the drums come in and make the drums more prominent.

1st tune in the new basement

Although I'm not a big fan of this type of music, I have to say it sounds, recorded and mixed well. I can't really find anything that is screaming for tweaks.

    Drum and Bass fusion

Thanks for the replies. I knew this wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. I wanted the drums to sound somewhat like square pusher, but a realize that's its abrasive and busy. Anyway I'll try turning up the bass a bit.

    Drum and Bass fusion

I decided to write a song for my son and try something new at the same time. I tried my hand at Drum and Bass this time and this song has a more electronic feel. Any comments? It's only a minute and a half long, so if you don't like it, it will be over soon. Thanks...

Mix check - We Can Do Anything

I haven't heard the first version, but it doesn't sound too bad, however the vocal is too prominent. It sounds like it's sitting on top of your track. I'd boost the background vocals, they sounded pretty good to me. The rhythm section is to far in the background IMO. I'd bring everything up...

Transmit The Dead - 3rd Song for Concept Album. [Hard Rock/Metal]

I think the guitars and bass sounds good, but the snare sounds really bad. It needs more bass and less treble. The bass drum is also pretty weak. Some of this might have to do with too much compression, but I'm not sure.

Owl City - Good Time Cover

Sounds alright, but the vocals are a bit too loud. They sound like they're on top of the track instead of in it to me. I'd bring them down and then use eq to mix them in with the rest of the band. The stuff behind the vocals sound good, but it's hard to hear it.

    Guitar Ballad

Thanks a lot. That sounds much better, but if you have time and wouldn't mind, it would be great to have you play drums on it. I'm in no hurry, so I can wait. I'd much rather wait a few weeks and have great drums than rush out something and have it sound terrible. I recently upgraded my...

    Guitar Ballad

I'm not too proud to take help. Anything you'd be willing to do would be greatly appreciated. Just tell me what you need. Midi files, the song without drums, etc. I've heard the Steven Slate stuff sounds amazing. Thanks for all the advice. In the future I can't rely on nice people like you to...

    Guitar Ballad

I've tried to fix the drums, but I'm not to good at mixing drums, so I don't know how much it helped. I also did a few more things to try to enhance the mix. Thoughts? I've been having some problems exporting, so that's why the first note of the song has no guitars. Please ignore it until I...

    Critique Please! (rock track)

Sounds good for the most part, but the lead guitar is very dry. If you're going to replace it with a vocal it's no problem. This isn't really my style of music, so I don't know how much my advice will help. The bass drum sounds a little too clicky for this type of pop punk, IMO, but maybe I'm...

"Walked Away" - mighty vintage Mark2b tones w/modern strat

Great playing and tone. Love the sound of the Mark II. I'd kill for one of those. Song sounds good, but it's a little long IMO. Reminds me of David Lee Roth a little, but I like DLR so that's a good thing. Great mix.

    Guitar Ballad

Thanks for the kind words. I recorded it with Ezdrummer, so it's no problem for me to go back and change the drum sounds. Although I don't have an infinite number of sounds, I can easily change the kick, snare, etc to a different sound. Any suggestions on what sounds would be more appropriate.

    Guitar Ballad

I took out the high end from the overheads and the mix. I boosted the room mics too, so there is more of a room sound now. I compressed it a little more which seemed to make it a little warmer and louder(I don't know if it's better though). Any improvement...

    Guitar Ballad

I'll try using a bigger room, thanks for the listen. The guitars were all recorded direct. Straight into my computer and then processed with s-gear. I love s-gear, even though it's limited. I've only been using it for about 2 weeks, but I've been very happy with the lead tones I've been getting...

    Guitar Ballad

Thanks, for the feedback, I'll dial back some of the high end. I added some because I though the mix was too dull, but I'll take it out and maybe try to beef it up a bit. I wanted to make this song punchy, so added treble thinking it would make the mix punchier, but maybe I went a bit too far...

    Guitar Ballad

Here is an instrumental ballad I've been working on. It sounds a little 80ish, but I tried to make the instrument sounds a little more modern. I wanted to make the guitar parts heavier, but they sound a little weak to me. I also tried not to compress this mix too much, should I add more? I was...

Secret Agent Man [cover], first song demo, looking for some criticism.

The bass sounds like it's panned off o one side slightly, but maybe it's just me. It's not as bad as you described it, but it does need work. The drums sound like cheap midi, but if you're going to replace them then there isn't much to say about that. The guitars aren't too bad. I noticed a few...

    OMEN (Dubstep) by Rockonin

Really cool track. Sounds fine to me, the only things I could really critique about it are the organs in the beginning. They sound a little harsh on the high end and a little bit tiny. Maybe a little high end cut and a small amount of reverb would help, but honestly it's pretty good as is.
