Sometimes they report funny money, including hidden safety buffers so their figures look good in marketing. REAPER can only autoadjust to what the manufacturer says. But as stated above, you can loopback check yourself and set it perfect
Moral of the story here: Don't let the cost of drum mics be a barrier to you getting into drum recording, and don't fret too hard when the pretengineers tell you "you need this [whatever was in mix magazine this month] mic or you cant record
I don't like leaving all my expensive recording mics...
Hi all, I am doing a round trip latency roundup of various audio interfaces and could really use your help! The results will be view able for the world to see at: Round Trip Latency Roundup
If you can, I would like the results on whatever audio interface you are running at 44.1kHz, at 512, 256...
Yup, looks like you plug into the instrument in, set the switch to Hi-Z and make sure everything is unity gain on the way to the recording circuit and you are good. You might get people arguing all day and night how much more uber it will be with a zillion dollar DI, but as someone who owns...
I would use a real DI in front of the Zoom in order to record the unmolested guitar output at the same time. Somewhere on this forum is a picture of DI vs mic'd and shows how much easier it is to edit the DI track. However, I could just be babbling, if it turns out the zoom has a true direct out...
Two things I notice off the bat: The entire beginning of the snare is compressed or limited to be the same volume as the body, but the body is short
The Low mids of the guitar are extremely controlled dynamically and then boosted. This could be done with a multiband compressor, but often is...
Are you kidding? For this style, you could give the paid engineers a tip or two. Somehow you resisted the definition destroying, layer cake of mud sound
The drums sound a bit small, but for this style they sound bigger than normal. You seem to have already discovered the necessity for a mid...
I suggest using an app that doesn't get in your way intellectually. Unless you are doing heavy MIDI, I would suggest an app built on an "audio first" paradigm. The free Audacity would be a good choice
I'm and absolute nut for supple mic cables with extreme "coil-ability"
I want to be able to throw them from the coil and have an almost ruler straight line to my target with one hand
I usually want neutrik, no screw ends, although there are other brands with the same setup
I don't want to...
I come from the "audio first" school of DAWs so I'm a bit biased, but if you are talking loops, the one in your list that would be the no brainer to me is Acid. Because it is a Sonic Foundry design, it shouldn't require ever cracking open the manual except for some very specific and rarely used...
This error pops up from time to time, restarting reaper usually helps.
It brings me great joy to take a screenshot of it, show Justin and gleefully shout "[insert name here] has hacked cockos.com!!!!!"
I'm an M/S nut when the acoustic will be featured prominently.
If its an acoustic in a dense mix, the punch of that 57 might be just the ticket, capturing mostly the sounds and more importantly, behaviour, that fits the role needed by that particular guitar track
Think "atmosphere" vs "punch"...
If my site is a blog, then there is no site on the net that's not a blog. This is getting ridiculous (and I have nothing against blogs, just that my site has been around since what, 1996? Long before the word 'blog')
I can hear the stadium creaking from those goalposts moving
Now I guess we have to redefine "blog" to mean: any information anywhere ever in the universe
And you are still totally, utterly, wrong
For instance, here is my girlfriend's podcast
The HR Oracle Interview 4 - Melissa McCoy, PHR contingent staffing - The HR Oracle
In this one, she interviews a fellow in her field
If you can find a blog on my website (except the external link to my BLOG called "don't get jacked") I'll give you a twinkie. You prejudged my site which has been there for years, no blog, just drum samples and such for the most part, just move on and take it to your blog
My website is not a...
It seems like you didn't actually go to my site. It isn't a content farm or blog at all. All the links on my site go *to my site* with a very few exceptions. There are tons of articles and downloads there *from my site* not links to externals of things like drum samples and impulses I made...
