vsampler -pitch wheel affects all tracks

Don't know vsampler, but it sounds like maybe your MIDI tracks are all on the same channel. Try selecting different channels for each track and see if it works.

how to use a MIDI keyboard during recording and where to plug it in at

Google search on "MIDI gameport adapter" yielded some good results. Here was one particularly good one: http://musicmall.com/cmp/article6.htm. Enjoy. :) -Jeff

    New Audiophile Snaps,Crackles, and Pops

You might also want to take a look at turning off or decreasing your graphics acceleration...? Good luck - I'm curious to see how you end up fixing this and what level of latency you end up with, since I'm thinking about buying this card in the near future too. :)

alternative types of bass guitar strings?

I hear that putting a little drop of olive oil in the water helps make them not stick together. Also, put a few bay leaves in there to really add a little something extra. :D :D

tips for recording guitar with distortion

Others more knowledgeable than me (and there are many :D) can hopefully add/correct... but... As I understand it, a main reason for this is to minimize early reflections from the floor into the mic. Other reasons are that the floor (especially if you have something like hardwood) could...

PODxt or 10 or 15 watt Marshall Amp?

Well, Ronan. If you really do work on making albums with the kind of high-profile guitarists you say you do, then I can see where you're coming from. In that case, you may be in an entirely different league than a good number of the people hanging out on this forum, myself included. A...

Mixing in that powerful kick and snare without clipping

If there is bleeding, perhaps using gates on the tracks could help...

Anyone know what's planned for Sonar 4?

I'm actually psyched for a metronome!! :) Are you just guessing, or did you hear they were really doing this? I can't really believe that you can't use the existing one except for during recording (maybe you can and I'm just a moron). I'd also like to SEE the metronome - with a blinking...

    Volume Control?

If you're comparing to commercial CD's, yeah, you're gonna notice that yours aren't as loud. They compress the piss out of commercial CD's, so they're a pubic hair away from clipping throughout most of the song. If you send your stuff to a professional mastering house, they'll probably bring...

    Scrub-a-dub-dub

Just saw this Shuttle PRO v.2 controller surface, and it's got a jog/shuttle wheel. Anybody tried this one? How you like it? Can you assign the wheel to the Scrub tool? Thanks! -Jeff

    VHS Tape to PC

I thought that S-video didn't carry any sound info...? Am I mistaken? So, I would think that a VCR with an S-video out should also have RCA outs. Your VCR's most likely got a single coax out. I don't know of any adapter from coax to 3 RCA plugs (video, L audio, R audio), although it's...

    Recording on a computer

Mic input?!!... Usually you want to steer clear of the mic input as they tend to be very noisy. You should try to use your soundcard's line input instead. (You'll need a mixer or preamps or DI box to get signal up to line level) And, if you just want to be able to record 2 mono signals...

    Scrub-a-dub-dub

Thanks for the response, Steven. I don't have distortion per se, just the nasty click-click-click. I haven't tried playing with my latency/buffer settings, although I'm at as low as I can go now without getting dropouts, which is a sad 20msec. I'll play with that to see if more buffers or...

HELP!! How do I connect all these wires!

Hiya, TLEE. I've got a similar setup - using a Behringer Eurorack MX602A mixer myself. Here are a couple of options. 1) Does your computer software have "Input Monitoring" or does your soundcard allow for "Direct Monitoring"? If so, and your latency is bearable, then you can do what...

    Scrub-a-dub-dub

Howdy, folks. A couple of questions about the scrub tool. When I use it, it works, in that it does play my stuff back at the different speed. However, it also gives me a repeated fast-clicking sound whilst I scrub (clicking is at same fast speed - not related to my scrub speed). Do others...

    more trouble with mixdown

I would think that you should also be able to mute the mic input so it's not a factor. (I don't know your soundcard, but I can do it with my Santa Cruz and would think it's a common function.)

    Record monitoring problem

Did you try to plug the headphones into the Headphones jack on the front of the unit? Are you sure you can plug headphones into the Monitor Outputs (1, 2)? I wouldn't think so... I took a quick look at the specs, and it says that the Outputs 1-8 have a recommended load impedance of 10k ohms...

    How much RAM is enough?

If you have Windows XP, you're definitely gonna want to go up to at least 512M. This will more than double the memory available to your DAW, since XP itself uses a lot of memory. I've seen metrics that show the greatest performance gain is the jump from 256M to 512M. Obviously, you're still...

Agreed! But I can't take this BBS into the loo with me. :D Thanks for the TapeOp recommendation, guys! :) Looks great, and you just can't beat that price!! :D Just signed up for my free subscription! And, I'll take a look at the Digital Recording mag you mention, Treeline...
