    Aren't they the same kits?

    Free Waves OneKnob Louder

Vocal Rider demo saved my life. But then I later figured out how to achieve the same effect using a free plug and parameter modulation... Waves definitely has some cool stuff but piracy makes all software developers do stupid things.

    How A Dynamic Microphone Works

I subscribe to Recording Hacks' mailing list and today I recieved and email that's mostly about dynamic mics. Here's a portion of what was written: Insider SM57 Secrets The Shure SM57 was introduced in 1965. Audio technology has come a long way since then, with composite materials and...

The one rudiment that has totally payed off for me a gillion times is the paradiddle. If there was only ONE thing that I'd recommend somebody practice, it'd be that because it's so versatile and can be played all over the kit. That said, after playing music for 19 years, I still only know two...

Hey Greg, were you able to install this EZCocktail thing? Apparently its another kit but I can't get it to install on my computer. lol. talk about a time saver! what DAW are you using? I'll have to look into this drum map thing. MIDI is confusing as crap.

Cyber Monday - gift for me: Line 6 UX2 or is there something better.

I've read super satisfied reviews about the TC Electronic Impact Twin and there's one in the b/s/t right now, as we speak. I've been thinking about looking into that interface, myself.

XLN just came out with a Keys set too and if the drum package is any indication, it should be better than the Toontrack offering. XLN Audio - Addictive Keys ...not that I can do much more than pads on a keyboard, mind you.

lol. this is both hilarious and true. i think that if I shelled out and bought another drum pack, plus an electronic drumkit to trigger the sounds with, it'd be decent. FOr now, I'm just annoyed.

How do I get inspiration for making songs?

Playing with other ppl is terribly underrated. This is something i stress to all my guitar students. Start a band with ppl, no matter whether its your style our not. You'll learn more in three months than you did in your previous six, i promise. And you'll be forced to try things you'd never...

So I bought EZD and installed it... and is it just me, or are these the cheesiest-sounding drums ever? And the "grooves" are HORRIBLE! Granted, I've only spent maybe 15 mins checking it out but after having spent a good 45 mins trying to install the thing, I had hoped it'd be more impressive...

    Homemade soundbox? help :D

If you shell out and make it really well in the room-within-a-room style (4 walls and the ceiling), this would help you a lot BUT building a room like that will cost you a lot of time and money. Also, you'd have to buy two doors.

    Recording rain methods.

Adding some cheap fabric/carpet to this might help. Of course, the weight would increase considerably as the fabric becomes saturated with water but if you've built your shelter well, it shouldn't be a problem. I've seen some really creative ideas for capturing various nature sounds, including...

Condenser or Ribbon for $150 or so

Unless you're in a treated drum room, I'd steer clear of ribbons. If you can afford a cardioid ribbon, that's probably your best option, save an LDC - which, imo, is probably your best option for a multi-use microphone.

    Black friday software deals

Wow! EZD for thirty bucks?! I'm buying that sucker right now! But tell me - can I use whichever add-on pack I want with EZD? Or are there certain ones that can only be used with Superior? And what is the real difference between the two? EDIT: Screw it. For $30, who cares? Even if I can only...

    Collaboration, Anyone?

I didn't know where else to put this, so I'm dropping it here: I'm looking to collaborate with someone who knows a thing or two about electronic music. I'm an old skool type of guy - I get frightened and confused by drum machines and synthesizers and inevitably, I either smash things or sell...

    Toontrack EZmix 2

I dig it but what if you're not a talentless shmoe? What if you're just not a talented engineer or can't afford one? People have their talents and it's super difficult (read: damn near impossible) to be a master-of-all-trades. I definitely see a market for things like this that goes beyond some...

    Toontrack EZmix 2

Doesn't seem so bad to me... Looks like it's kind of a bunch of plugs and FX chains presets ready to go. One would still need to know how to use them all - it's not *hopefully* an algorithm that'll just look at your sounds and auto-mix your tune for you. It also seems like part of it's intention...

    Recording rain methods.

Seriously, stay in touch on the forum. I'm excited to know that there are other folks interested in Field Recording/Foley here on HR and it'd be a shame to have you disappear like so many others, especially as it seems like you've thought a lot about different techniques to capture the sounds...
