    16 Tracks of drums!

This is a ridiculous statement. This is a HOME RECORDING forum, not an "I've got $50,000 - Let's go make an album" forum. And what the hell is up with you and this CMB guy? Are you ex-lovers or something? Why all the bickering? Can't we just have a conversation without you two trying to make...

    Har-Bal

Sound is math but music isn't necessarily so. Anybody here seen "Star Trek: Voyager" [the TV show]? Its about a bunch of folks from the future that get stuck way out in space and have all sorts of crazy adventures. One day, they come across a population bent on mathematics and have never heard...

    Possible Noob Question Alert!

So I've got a bunch of WAV files that I've created of horns that I've recorded. I've chopped them all up into individual notes and I'd like to be able to trigger and play them with my Korg NanoPad, in a fashion similar to the way an MPC works - if that makes sense. Basically, I'd like to load...

Is there a "Best" all-around LDC?

I should, shoudn't I? Tell you what, Tomm - why don't you give me this dude's phone number and I'll tell him what's up. :thumbs up:

Is there a "Best" all-around LDC?

I'd tell him to shut up, nut up and shell out the $700 for a 414 or something. You can't really go wrong with that as an all-arounder. I haven't personally used the Joly modded NT1-A but a friend of mine uses it in his studio regularly.

The Everything "EZDrummer" and "Superior Drums" thread.

I bought a Korg Nano Pad and made a bass pedal trigger thingy and now I hate EZD at least 40% less! I still don't dig the stock sounds but at least I don't have to draw in MIDI notes anymore! It's much nicer to be able to just tap out a pattern than to have to write it manually... that approach...

Is there a "Best" all-around LDC?

Seriously - although it's definitely not what you're asking for - at the price range you're looking for, you'd do better to buy a dynamic mic. Depending on the applications you'll be using the mic on, you may be considerably happier with the results. I know I was, when I realized this. That...

    Mastering with Reaper

I'm no mastering engineer but when I want to make a mix louder, I will usually use a saturating plug, a bus compressor with a low ratio and a peak limiter, so that I get a smooth movement into loudness without squashing the mix. You may need a 2bus EQ as well, if your compression/limiting plugs...

Best Software for extremly long recording track?

Still, it's good advice to break your long recordings into smaller chunks. When I'm recording bands at the venue I work in, I set up two REAPER sessions for each set and try to get half of each set on the two sessions. Sometimes, bands do three sets and so I'll end up with six chunks of the...

2 channel pre perhaps with SPDIF Output preferably < $1000?

I'm a little late to the party... Glad to hear that you've found a pre that suits your needs! I wanted to comment on this: I've got the old DMPA Gold, which I'm assuming is the same one you have. I run mine into a Tascam US1800, using SPDIF and I have no clocking problems at 44.1 or 48k. I...

Are you looking to buy or sell a Teac A7300? Because if not, you're quite obviously in the wrong part of this meassage board.

Using a Mic with Tascam DR-100MKII

Wow. That's a lot of questions, most of which will only be solved with lots of potentially frustrating experimentation. But I've got a question for you: Why did you buy a shotgun, if 90% of your recording is done indoors?

The Everything "EZDrummer" and "Superior Drums" thread.

Hey Chilli! Maybe the thread title oughta be changed to something like "EZDrummer Super Thread" or whatever, since it's become such a monster. Just a suggestion.

    Collaboration, Anyone?

Thanks for the good words, man. I doubt I'll go any further with this unless I find somebody that's interested in working on it with me. There's too many other tunes that I've got on the go that need to get finished and I'd rather not spend time on the one that's frustrating me the most at the...

    Tascam US 1641

That's balls about the computer, man but at least you got a new interface! Plus, everybody knows that black interfaces sound better because the XLR jacks match. I painted my DMPA Gold black and got a 3% increase in awesome in my sound.

Buying equipment. I need a Handheld recorder and a rode shotgun mic.

I once sent a guitar pedal to Thailand and it cost something around $40 Canadian. I also sent a guitar pedal to Germany and I think it was about $30 or so. Shipping really isn't all that much, imo. I always find it strange how much ppl freak out about the costs of it, as if it's gonna cost as...

Buying equipment. I need a Handheld recorder and a rode shotgun mic.

The H4n can be had for pretty cheap. I got mine for $200. As for shotguns, I found mine on the local craigslist. It seems there are lots of aspiring videographers around that buy mics and then sell them within a few months in my area. If you want, take a look on the Toronto, Ontario, CANADA...
