    There is usually enough units being broken down to yield parts, and then the wizards come up with ways to get around the impossible. I believe the last 8 track 1/4" was the Tascam 388. Don't expect much new until China starts flooding the maket with thier versions.

    Tascam 488 belt

    Contact Ole Bob at Vintage Electronics Sales, Repair, Parts for Marantz, Pioneer, Teac, Etc. I think he'd even have a belt for Abe Lincoln's pants!!! Belts get replaced and not adjusted. You may also need to remove moving surfaces, clean, and relube them.

    Chances are that if you had to replace a power transformer you might want to completely rebuild your power supply. I would also look at every lead off the transformer to make sure you have them correctly placed.

    The boards do have the same P/N. I was not sure if the relay number you stated is the same as what Tascam shows as the applicable part for them. But apparently you determined that which is good. If they work maybe I should buy a few!!!

    try different cables and check for a ground loop. You may have to "lift the ground" on one piece. Look for a ground lift switch on one piece of that equipment
