Need some help, getting a new Computer...

I'm not really interested in Vitsa, even if supported. I think XP is fine for my uses. Is it difficult to wipe Vista completely?

Need some help, getting a new Computer...

It really sucks for me, that I will be STUCK with an OS that I'm not interested in and doesnt work for my needs. I don't understand why they don't at least still offer XP as an option when you buy a new PC.

Here is the situation, My PC has a whole list of weird random problems, and I am ready for something new. I don't record on the computer all that often (more of an analog guy), but I do have a Delta 1010lt and i use it sometimes for tape transfers/edits/etc. Now, I have an account with Dell. I...

    I need a "new" mixer...

The 308-B sounds like the right one for me! That phantom power could come in handy! Anyone have a link to a manual or more info on it?

    I need a "new" mixer...

I googled the m520, looks pretty sweet. But maybe a bit "more" mixer (larger) than I need. Is there a smaller version? http://www.recordingconsoles.net/consoles/tascam/520_1.jpg

    I need a "new" mixer...

I'm in need of a mixer to use with my Fostex model 80 8-track & Tascam 22-2. Ive been using a modern Mackie, and the main problem is it only has 2 rca outs to send into the Fostex. So I can't record more than two separate tracks at a time with it. Here are a few things I need on the mixer...

    Noise Reduction??

Ditto. I've tracked a lot w/a Fostex Model 80 and use the Dolby C NR. Most of it is mixed onto a Tascam 22-2 without any noise reduction. It does add a bit of hiss, but it's not too bad-of all the recordings I've done theer was maybe 1 time where I thought it needed reduction on the mixdown deck...

Just picked up my first analog deck

The machine will probably need calibration. And you can bake the tapes-what are they? Your best bet is to buy and work with new tape though for any serious projects. ;)

By the Way, There is no Tape Shortage...

Wow, that's simply insane... The same tape was available at musiciansfriend a few weeks ago for $14.95 (which still wasn't a great deal), and they shot up to $19.99. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Quantegy-456-ReelToReel-Recording-Tape-14-x-7-x-1200?sku=248003

Using a tape machine to warm up drum tracks

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean, what do you want to run the Tascam into? What is in your signal chain right now? Are you planning on recording on drums on tape, then dumping them into protools? Or the other way around?

I assume there is no "wrong" way to do this...

I have a 1/4" 456 tape in one hand that I'd like to erase, and the Han-d-mag in the other. I guess I'm just asking what the best way to do this is...because I read here that the Han-d-mag will do the job.
