Whats The Best Studio Basement Setup

there is tons of info on sound proofing if you do your homework. Materials that work cost money unfortunately. www.johnlsayers.com is an amazing place to get design ideas. word of warning, they are pros and do not put up with the likes of me posting average questions.

    Need Help with PUP's

I think you'd get a more balaced sound from your guitar if you replaced both pups. if you ONLY play with the bridge pup and only replaced the bridge pup you would save yourself a coupla bucks. personally I'd go ahead and do both.

    !980-82? Fender Lead I value?

I remember thinking that the Lead 1 was a sweet guitar. That was a long time ago.

    pickups!

Lindy Fralin Pickups. I was just looking at his web page and I think you will find his pick ups match your single coil taste Unbucker- is a humbucker with a single coil sound. If you wire the pick up correctly you can split the coil and get an accurate single coil sound. P-92 is a obvious...

    Should Tab Sites Be Legal?

Hey, if any kids saw one of my bands shows and they came up to me and wanted to cover one of our originals I'd be happy to email them the tab to play it and add in the lyrics. I don't think I'd put tab up on a a band web page but I do not have a problem giving them to people who want to cover...

    amp wattage

I may be a little on the spinal tap ours go to eleven side of things but I'd set you up with a 100w half stack and use a power brake if you need to. Rawk!

Tested out some Fender amps...what happened?

I played a little 5 watt toob Crate and it didn't suck, as a matter of fact it would make a nice practice amp! Suprised the hell outta me. Like all manufactured goods these days it was prolly built in southeast asia.

Best Solo Ever (No Nirvana allowed, Or Dave Grohl)

+1 for Maggot Brain...when I listen to that I'm almost in tears. Reminds me of some kid getting drafted into the Viet Nam war, tripping the weekend before he leaves for boot. Crushing. I always liked George Lynch's and Jake Lee's solos compared to their contemporaries. the Butthole Surfers...

    How to get this sound?

I'll add to what SuperHuman said: solid body electric with humbuckers (I know, goes without saying...just saying) Marshall sounding toob amp. the wah pedal isn't too pronounced.

    which hollowbody jazz guitar?

Tradition is an American company with a country flair. Their guitars are Korean and I have played them, they are what you would expect. They have a jazz hollow body model. I recommend looking at them as their prices are really nice at my local music store. I am planning on buying one of...

    New guitar maker

The only model that I immediately thought "maybe it's ok" was the Flying V. Since FV's are kinda astro/space cool the design didn't overpower the basic shape of the guitar.

    New guitar maker

I think I'd have to see one up close and play'r to make a qualified critique. otherwise, they look like they have a massive novelty potential.

    anyone familier with this amplifier?

interesting thread. does anyone know what this amp will sound like if overhauled as close to original as cost permits? hmmm, I wonder if there is space available to add an extra 12AX7 for increased overdrive? probably not. tons of possibilities.

Metalcore Bands and Gibson SG guitars

I agree. really though, gibson sound without the weight of a Log Paul, gibson name appeal, the body design is akin to flames on a hotrod, 2nd place appeal-by this I mean Les Pauls are king in the gibson line and the sg is the underdog, less loved, middle son with a bad attitude vibe, yet still...

If I were in your shoes I would... 1) shop for and purchace an acoustic guitar first. I agree with the dumb luck theory of quality guitar building. I recently played Seagull acoustics by Godin guitars and liked'm and get one with the electronics so that you can play through amplification. I...

i dont understand the concept of Fender

Cubano you seem to be asking about the sound. Dollar to dollar you prefer the Ibanez. Cool, but the deeper you get into amps, guitars, pickups, effects and the chain of sound the more you will see the need for variety of guitar tones. And, with time you may want to pay tribute to a guitar...
