This is not a stupid football song like the 'Superbowl Shuffle' or anything. It's a kind of spooky, bluesy/jazzy tune about the alleged curse of the New Orleans Saints. As you may or may not know, the Superdome sits on what was once Girod Street Cemetary. How's that for bad karma.
Anyway, I...
Wow you wrote a song for your dog before your wife, I like that. I wrote a song for my wife once, "Shoot to kill". I guess since the dog went first, this song better be good. Nice tune, I"m surprised no one mentioned that it reminds them of Gordon Lightfoot yet. That's what I'm getting. Nice job.
Thanks for the responses.
geet73/Goodland- Yeah, a dash of delay thickens it up a bit. I use this on quite a few songs. However, there are a couple of songs that are screaming for an actual double tracked sound.
boingoman - thanks, I'll do some homework on that
Big Kenny - I think you...
Normally, when playing live, even on the songs that in the studio, the vocals are doubled, I just do it single and dry. However, there are a couple of songs that we do that just dont sound the same with a single vocal. Is there something relatively cheap where I could get a doubled vocal sound...
Peavey Heritage (tube) VTX series. From the early '80s. It has 2 Scorpions in it and is as loud as it is HEAVY. I rarely use it anymore. I usually record and play live with a POD.
I may have overlooked it but, I don't think, and can't believe no one's said Aretha Franklin yet.
anyway, SOME great voices that I can think of off of the top of my head are:
-Nicky Hopkins -( I think that's his name, he sings "Fooled around and fell in Love" for Elvin Bishop and "Jane" and...
I recorded all 5 songs on my soundclick page on an MD8 with a nanoverb and mixed down to a consumer CD recorder. Some of the tunes were recorded before I knew what I was doing and about 2 were recorded after I knew a little about recording and mixing...
I've been having mine since 2000. I love it, and I hate it. I've never had any trouble with it functioning though. Once in a while an error 06 I think. I just repower it and it's ready to go again. Nothing lost.
I love the fact that it has knobs and not menus, and is pretty idiot-proof to use...
I'm ok with more guitar playing coming back. I do agree with Jimistone (I think it was) that said the 80's were the worst decade for RnR. To me, all of the glam bands just made basically pop music only with distorted guitars. Most of the songs were about partying or some type of booty chatter...
I still play a Squire Strat. The ones without the pickguard and the Demarzio or Demarzio-looking pickups. It replaced my Melody Maker in 1990 and I've used it exclusively ever since. It was with me at the House of Blues, Beale Street, New Orleans Jazz Fest, everywhere, and I can always spot the...
I have a meager list compared to most of you guys.
1) Rode NT1 - for home studio
2) Peavey PZM something or other - Actually, not a bad mic for live vocals. It's hotter than a 58 and pretty crisp.
3) V-Tech something or other. - total crap. It's a 40 dollar mic I bring along for emergencies.
I use to know this. I think the headsets cut off so many seconds into the 25 second play clock. I would imagine somewhere between the 10-15 second mark. It could possibly when the offense breaks the huddle but I don't think so, I think it's relative to the 25 second play clock.
pdadda, that's exactly what I use. Yammy EMX66M. Pretty clean for a powered mixer. I'm running it to a pair of Peavey SP2's though. Got lucky on the speakers, bought them used for $100 each. I have a 4 -pc band, and it's adequate for small and medium size venues. In fact everyone is going...
I'm looking for a decent price on one to use for a solo act. If not a Boss RC 20, then something that performs the same function (provides accompaniment).
Nice tune DS. Nice and jazzy. Like the staggered beat and the low harmony. Nice sound, I checked out shooting star too. More of the same. Recording-wise you sound like your getting a lot out of those Tascams. Keep up the fine work. Is that a real sax and if so are your playing it?
Hevy D - Thanks, you rock dude
Yorgo- Thank you, thank you.....
grinder - Actually, I'm using my son's Squire Strat on this song. He had some new strings on his axe so I stole his guitar for a couple of hours. I'm putting it through a POD. Probably used the British Classic amp model on the POD...
