Alright,
Not sure what I want to do with this one- there's parts I like and parts I don't like.
The chorus just starts, its like there's no build up to it. It definitely needs a bigger drum fill on the way in but I think it might be more than that.
Can't decide whether the chorus vocal needs...
Wouldn't it be easier to just start The Tone Thread on another forum where Greg can actually post? He's registered on a forum called Recording Review I think.
I can't offer you much advice but just wanted to say that the idea of a band starting out playing Death Metal in Kathmandu is fucking brilliant! Practice like crazy so you can play your who set on muscle memory alone and just have fun!
That is interesting - I'll see if I can find a UK version with a UK plug.
On EQ pedals - I just got a Boss GE7 in the end. MXR10s do come up on eBay but they're still going for a fair bit more money than a GE7 is new. They're also 18V instead of 9V which is a little inconvenient.
Fair enough, he's gone to uni now has he? Did he ring you up shitfaced to ask for money after a few days?
I've been mainly practicing my mixing, singing and playing about with EQ and compression over the last couple of months. Want to learn a bit more about that lot and carry on working on my...
Probably sound awful! You can't really treat a DS1 like a tube amp and try and overdrive it like a tube amp cos it doesn't have preamp tubes, it's just a pretty simple solid state circuit.
I don't have a Tube Screamer but if I get chance I'll try driving a DS1 with an SD1 for you on the weekend...
Most importantly, practice your arse off and learn all your parts as best you can before you start rehersing. Then you can easily correct things and the band cam practice. There's not many things more annoying that turning up to reherse and some lazy twat hasn't learned his parts so you have to...
That's a pain - I sold a jackhammer for £10 about 6 months ago - I could probably have delivered it to Kathmandu for a reasonable price.
Another pedal you could consider would be the Boss Turbo Distortion - The DS-2. Its like a DS-1 but with more gain/drive. Make sure you listen to a lot of...
When you say "metal" what do you mean exactly? Metal could be classic Metallica or some sort of crazy modern death metal with a really low drop tuning.
Its also quite important to know what amp you're going into.
If you've got a half decent tube amp with a relatively good drive channel then...
Jimi, there's a couple of spots where the drumming is a little loose, but it doesn't matter at all.
This sounds like a really good live band playing in a bar - it sounds nothing like a bloke recording on his own who's put it together one bit at a time. All the instruments sound good to me, the...
I played in a band last year to promote a folk/pop album where all the songs had be written by the lead singer who's main job was as a classical composer - she was doing the folk/pop thing as a little personal project.
Was fun and interesting to learn all the weird chords and strange meandering...
I just find the 1-Spot to be OK, but just generally a little noisy and also untidy. I've now got three drive pedals on my board and I might get a Tube Screamer too.
My wah wah can be a little noisy too but I've rewired to true bypass when I was replacing the switch so the inside of it is like a...
I'm pretty impressed with the build quality of my Mooer and ToneCity stuff, even though the Mooer "Echolizer" is a bit fishtanky, its not noisy and doesn't show any signs of anything coming loose.
Ah, I see. I definitely want something isolated. There's bound to be a cheaper alternative to Fuel Tank - they seem to have cornered the market and are expensive. 8 spots will be fine for me. If I get a bit short I don't mind daisy chaining a few "back row" pedals in the loop. Delay, reverb...
