Hey steve, in all your comparison projects, did you ever review or compare the RME ADI-8 Pro AE 8 channel A/D/A to anything? I'm still a bit unclear where the RME pieces fall as a point of comparison with (Apogee, Lucid, swissonic, etc.)

i use o B-1 on occasions for things. it works well in those applications. however my 4033 is a much better build quality without a doubt, and it sounds better than the the B-1 on accoustic guitars and vocals. my B-1 sounds better as an omni room mic for drums and better basically means trashier...

I debated getting the MP2NV as well, but ended up getting an FMR RNP and RNC for $600.00 for use on drum overheads and any stereo tracking, then picked up the 1 channel ME 1NV ($1000.00) for vocals, bass, kick drum, etc. a $1600.00 investment got me more flexibility than the one 2 channel...

though not my first choice for these applications, I wouldn't use words like "joke" and "sucks" to describe the 421. I think we're getting a bit juvenal about this subject!...I'll gladly trade 3 sm57's or 3 B-1's for 3 421's any day.......any takers?

ok J, here's what I think. you already are loaded up with some nice gear. I agree the Avalon is your best pre. your go to mic for vocals may be lacking. however, something like a Great River ME-1NV (single channel pre $1075.00 new) is a "Nevesque" highly colored pre with a big upfront sound...

A bit harsh DJL. however, I do have to agree. when th B-1 has been around for 25 plus years, then we'll see how it holds up...as I said in my reply, the B-1's are useful but my 57's still get more of a variety of applications.

I have 57's and B-1's and if you are choosing between the two for overheads there's no contest. the B-1's are your choice. for me i still like my MC012's for overs as I like small condensor mics as apposed to LD's . 57's are my choice for snare and I like them better on toms believe it or not...
