Kurzweil Rumour AD/DA converters are impressive

Hey steve, in all your comparison projects, did you ever review or compare the RME ADI-8 Pro AE 8 channel A/D/A to anything? I'm still a bit unclear where the RME pieces fall as a point of comparison with (Apogee, Lucid, swissonic, etc.)

    The B1 vs Mr. Microphone

actually I meant to just shorten your name to cavedog, my typing bad! no disrespect intended. happy holidays

    The B1 vs Mr. Microphone

davedog, Anonymity serves you well on these forums. I don’t pretend to know anything as you suggested. If you were truly previed to the very activity and threatening pm's I received I'm sure you still wouldn’t have the fairness of mind nor objectiveness to see things any different. ..For that...

    The B1 vs Mr. Microphone

cavedog, actually I'm wrong very often in life, and am respectful until belittled or when's someone becomes condisending to me. a fair question deserves a fair response tough or not. as with many people that I respect very highly, I share in there similar experience with RO. I think by...

    The B1 vs Mr. Microphone

Han, you're right about many things. to refrain myself from slingen more crap as I too get a bit tired of it all. I think the RO thing (certainly not meant for this forum) gets me very riled up as I have been deleted several times for asking tough questions and calling out Kurt on his BS. i...

    The B1 vs Mr. Microphone

Han, Chessrock may have been being overly discriptive in your eyes, but I think most of us who knows the RO site knew exactly what he was talking about... .why dont you ask Kurt to choose between the $1700.00 JML 8 ch. pre or the $1400.00 Sebatron 4 ch. tube pre. both he says are in the API...

Saw a decent auction on ebay if anyone is interested

sorry bro, but you can roll into GC and get that price with the extras mentioned...plus the security of walking out the door with the product. if that was a $399.00 auction then it would be worth advertising it for the guy....IMO

    4033 againts a B1

i use o B-1 on occasions for things. it works well in those applications. however my 4033 is a much better build quality without a doubt, and it sounds better than the the B-1 on accoustic guitars and vocals. my B-1 sounds better as an omni room mic for drums and better basically means trashier...

    about MXL micz

these budget mics design their products with hyped up high end. it gives the illusion of an upper sheen that you believe sounds pleasing until you start layering tracks... if you really listen to something like a TLM 103, though a bit one dimentional and budget as far as Nueman says, its upper...

toft atc-2 & great river nv

I debated getting the MP2NV as well, but ended up getting an FMR RNP and RNC for $600.00 for use on drum overheads and any stereo tracking, then picked up the 1 channel ME 1NV ($1000.00) for vocals, bass, kick drum, etc. a $1600.00 investment got me more flexibility than the one 2 channel...

    SM57 vs SP-B1

though not my first choice for these applications, I wouldn't use words like "joke" and "sucks" to describe the 421. I think we're getting a bit juvenal about this subject!...I'll gladly trade 3 sm57's or 3 B-1's for 3 421's any day.......any takers?

    SM57 vs SP-B1

DOT, beautiful pictures bro!..thanks. do you find a lot of bleed problems, especially the hats into the snare and everything into the toms? for an all around sonic picture of the kit, especially for jazz, maybe its not too much of a problem? but how would all that bleed effect pop/rock/blues...

    SM57 vs SP-B1

can someone tell me, how the heck they control all that bleed when using a B-1 on a snare drum and toms? anyone care to post pictures of B-1 mic plasement on snare, toms, overs?

    Digimax Converter Question

I have a Digi 001. I know the digimax is a step up in converter quality. (I've used one)... I own over 8 mic pre's to use on drums. was wondering if there was a standalone 8 channel converter equal to the digimax's A/D's without the mic pre's pretty cheap. (I dont think presonus sells an A/D...

What piece would you buy ( $1000-1300)

ok J, here's what I think. you already are loaded up with some nice gear. I agree the Avalon is your best pre. your go to mic for vocals may be lacking. however, something like a Great River ME-1NV (single channel pre $1075.00 new) is a "Nevesque" highly colored pre with a big upfront sound...

    SM57 vs SP-B1

A bit harsh DJL. however, I do have to agree. when th B-1 has been around for 25 plus years, then we'll see how it holds up...as I said in my reply, the B-1's are useful but my 57's still get more of a variety of applications.

What piece would you buy ( $1000-1300)

jeremy, the distressor is a great tool. as is the vintech both I have used... but J can you start by telling us what you record? are you tracking drums? what are you using all those pieces of gear on? are you a singer? whats your primary instrument? (as thats where your ultimate needs start)...

    SM57 vs SP-B1

I have 57's and B-1's and if you are choosing between the two for overheads there's no contest. the B-1's are your choice. for me i still like my MC012's for overs as I like small condensor mics as apposed to LD's . 57's are my choice for snare and I like them better on toms believe it or not...
