    Tube swap

I really encourage you to do this if you have a mind. Here's another site that I found useful when I got interested: Music Electronics Forum You really don't have to be an electronics technician do get started. Just keep reading, It will start to make sense. Good Luck

    Tube swap

There are very high voltages in tube amps and they don't always go away when you turn them off and unplug them. Fortunately it is easy to make them safe to work on. IMHO you would do well to get a book on the subject and at least go through the safety warnings. Or you can find out what you need...

Looking Great Muttley, Going with wood binding got me the look I wanted plus some. I just figured on plastic because it was easy and this was a prototype. Good on ya.

    9-42 for Drop D

25.5 is standard for Strats, Teles and those types.

    9-42 for Drop D

It'll probably work. It depends on the scale length of your guitar and how light your touch is.

My guitar is almost never dimed. I don't really use pedals. I set my amp a little past early breakup and control everything from my guitar. I set the pickup levels to suit what I'm doing in the song and don't touch them while playing. The masters are for adjusting during performance.

I like an individual volume for each pickup and then a master volume and master tone.

The upper two restate the curve on the headstock. The bottom one was suggested in an earlier version of this thread. I thought they would be useful as starting points.

    pickups and resistance

You have to be careful using any one value to get a sense of how a pickup will behave. Lower resistance and stronger magnets may be hotter than higher resistance weaker magnets for instance. Resonant peak does help you know about brightness but it doesn't tell you much about overall frequency...

I found my mistake. I had used the wrong set of marker lines when setting the E to e' distance, but now I'm coming up with 52.63mm. I suspect that it's me that's not getting it.

I made no attempt to make this print to scale. The truth is, there's no predicting how an unknown printer will scale a drawing. If you like, we can work through the exercise of getting an accurate template to print on your printer tomorrow. It may take several tries. I won't have time this...

    Explain the attenuator

Attenuators can also be useful on tube amps with master volume. The master volume on most tube amps overdrives the preamp section. This is not as musical to many ears as overdriving the power section. My experience is that the tube life issue has more to do with attenuators allowing you to keep...
