New guitar instrumental - mix opinions plz!

Guitar Rig provides the amp, speaker and mic simulation, as well as compression and all the effects. I use the sparkle drive to boost the guitars output a bit and convert to a low impedance signal before going into my Echo Mia soundcard. Been using Cubase for around 8 years now with no problem.

New guitar instrumental - mix opinions plz!

Last night I had a listen in headphones and sure enough, I hear all this crackling distortion throughout.. Don't know where that came in, I mastered with T-Racks, I'll go back and check it out tonight, thanks! ...I'll see how it sounds with no drums in the first 4 bars as per suggestion..

New guitar instrumental - mix opinions plz!

Thanks for the comments! One interesting point.. the guitar I used for the lead, I bought in a garage sale for $15! I'm learing to paint guitars and I wanted something I could practice on so I did an EVH paint job on it! :D Doesn't sound too bad.. It's a Hohner Marlin.

I like the tune! Catchy, nice vocal harmonies. Then that Beatles cover that played afterwards was excellent! Great work!

I record with Cubase SX 2, and an Echo Mia soundcard. The only thing miked are the vocals, recorded with a Rode NT-1.

Do You Want to Know a Secret?

Thanks for all the comments! I actually just did a new mix about 2 hours ago, I'll post it when I get it fixed up and mastered a bit... There is a lot going on in this, kind of went overboard! Just for guitars; - an Ibanez AF85 with TV Jones pups, recorded from the pickups in the right and...

Do You Want to Know a Secret?

Great, thanks! That's just what I need... I was trying to get that that wall of many guitars sound that all songs have now, but I'm a more retro guy so I've never mixed something like that. Will probably take some tweaking to get this better...

    Beatles Cover Thread!

:D Thanks for the positive comments! We did an "album" of about 10 songs in '95, and then another 10 in about '99 with some better production, recorded on a little VS-840 Roland 8-track. It really is interesting listening very closely to the original Beatles songs, trying to pick out all the...

    Beatles Cover Thread!

Ok, here's a couple more Beatles covers for you.. A few friends and I did these around 1995. All we had was a 6 track cassette recorder, a Roland Sound module, one SM-57 mic and an old Alesis "soapdish" reverb.. but I think they sound not too bad.. :o...

My first song >> Advices wanted

I actually liked it quite a lot! Even with your accent it sounded good! Sure a lot better than my first song. I can't think of any suggestions.. keep the vocal up front so you can understand it.. Not really much to criticize!

Few days late - Jingle Bell Rock!

The Rhythm guitar was an Ibanez Artcore with TV Jones pickups. The lead fills and main lead was - you guessed it, a Tele! (Squire) ..on the bridge pickup. And finally.. the amp used was... (go to commercial) the amp used was.... software! It was the Guitar Rig 2 plugin, in Cubase. It was a...
