Mhhhh I think you have a settings bug. I can pull off like 32 24bit tracks with my PIII 700Mhz with no problem. I used a Live with the APS drivers, now I use Terratec EWS 88MT. Keijo

    mp3 sounds like shite

LoFi is created automatically by mp3.com. It's ?? kbps, mono, so it's supposed to sound crappyy. The better version is HiFi, but that's only 128 kbps so you can hear some quality loss awell. Keijo

    favorite stomp boxes

I've messed aound with the Gt-3 and it was very impressive. The minuses (still there with the gt6) why I went with the Zoom: 1. only 4 sounds per bank. 2. 1 control pedal. 3. Zoom also has a control switch, which you can changes some settings real time...

What your microphone, pre-amp set up?

I have AKG C4000B, AKG D112, SM57, 2xAKGD880, 2x Sennheiser e825. At the moment the only preamp is my Behringer mixer I like it, but I would like other colorations. I'm seriously thinking of buying a dedicated preamp for recording vocals and stuff, but I don't want to spend any money before I...

    Hey you producer/engineers out there...

Sounds good to me. Maybe a bit muffled and lacking the high end, but that can be the mp3 compression. Keijo

    favorite stomp boxes

Ibanez RG550 > Zoom Superplayer 8080 with Zoom TriMetal on the fx loop. Currently giving serious thought to buying a Marshall JCM2000 + Cabinet A. I would still use the processor and stomp box for fx, Just use the head as amp + EQ. Keijo

    Psychedelic Rock...

It is VERY sloppy. Both the guitars and the vocals. And it kind of takes the pleasure out of the listening. Sorry. Keijo

Shakes is back!!! Band Project I did jerry rigged.

Sounds good. The vocals have a bit much of the low end imo, but since I don't listen to this type of music at all I really don't know for sure :). The vocals sound very good otherwise. I also like the way things are panned. And the drums sound very good aswell and work very well with the bass...

Sounds good to me. And the vocals sounded good to. I liked the last song, very funky :) Keijo

New song; see if I did better...

Well the guitar tone is still in need of some serious work. It's recorded direct with a stomp box. (or atleast souns like it) I actually liked the earlier guitar sounds better, but they are both tinny and scratchy. It could be cool for a effect, but as a main guitar tone it just doesn't cut it...

Which AT mic. A sample of the work would help. Have you tried different mic positions? How close are you micing? Keijo

Micing : Face Pounding Guitar sound

Good point toyL I forgot that most of those bands are all tuned down a few steps (probably to C or C#). And for example Korn uses 7 string guitars etc. And most of them use 5 string basses. Keijo

    compressor question

Gidge, It wasn't my song :). I may have added a little wait..... umm... Let me see 2x Dist guit (heavy giuitars like death metal) I don't remember if there was a lead guitar. bass sequenced drums (not trying to mimic real drums so there were a lot of camples) 3 or 4 synth sounds (lead and bg)...

Quick comment on mix on short song, please.

IMO it's not too loud for that type of playing. And it's VERY nicely played :). But this type of bass should really have a helluva drummer backing it up. The MIDI drums are really killing the tune at the moment. :( I hate that snare in the beginning *shudder*. Keijo

    here to bring 'misery'

If I'm not mistaken the mic modeler is an Antares DirectX plugin. There's usually a demo you can try, if you get the effect you need. Keijo

    Help, 603 bottoming out!!

Sorry I should have read the original post more carefully :). The sound of the didgeridoo is very bass heavy and spl heavy, that's why I used the D112 in the first place to get the ultra lows to the tape (HDD i my case) aswell. The D112 changed the sound somewhat, but since I was not planning on...
