    Newbie Recording pleaze give advice

Wow. You really don't have the first fucking clue what you are talking about. Do everybody a favor and quit handing out your "free" advice. You don't know your ass from a hole in the ground and it's painfully obvious............... Yeah......... you're a record producer AND an...

    Questions about soundproofing room

"Cheap" and "soundproof" should never be used in the same sentence. Define "cheap"................

    Finally built some Gobo's !!!

The pink stuff is useless. Use either rockwool or 703. They are rated and tested by the manufacturer to absorb sound. The "reflective" side of the gobo is for times when you want to bounce your instrument source off a hard surface, rather than try to contain and knock some of it down.

It's a common "rookie" mistake.:D Don't feel bad about it. But definately add those extra studs. BEFORE YOUR WIRING GOES IN!

    Track Lighting Question

Those are called "Zip-It's" and they work very well. I would avoid the plastic ones, however, and get the ones made of pot metal. I've had the plastic ones deform during install or the tips can break off too. Another option is to layout your holes in the track to match your ceiling joist layout...

Is this a stupid idea for cheap(free) diffusion?

You could use Crazy glue to fasten them to a sheet of Plexiglass. Up here a 24' x 48" x 1/4" sheet of Plexi is about $36.00. Check out the glue section at Home Depot or Lowes for other glue options. If you want to fasten them to wood I would recommend Epoxy. I think that's gonna adhere best to...

    Dust

Get your clothes dryer out of the house and into the garage! Most of the dust in this house is lint. The stuff is everywhere. Forced air heating and cooling is the next big culprit. I understand houses with radient heat are noticably less dusty than "modern" homes with forced air HVAC.

Favorite Acoustic Guitar mic positions / techniques

LD condensor about shoulder-high, BEHIND the bridge pointing at the floor. Wide sweet spot on my Martins with that setup. Just by moving the guitar backwards/forwards or left/right you should be able to dial it in with headphones in nothing flat. I'm getting a very balanced tone from this setup...

    Portable Sound Booth for $595!!!????

What is your expectation for how this booth will help you? I mean, are you looking for isolation or treatment? From the looks of that booth, it's not going to do anything for isolation. It might knock down some stray sound you don't want in your takes, but it just doesn't look very effective...

    midi>audio

I would think you would have to physically patch from the audio out with the DXi synth to an input and print an audio track. I'm not aware of any hardware that allows you to route MIDI'd audio sources "virtually." I think you need a patch cable or two for this...............

OEM with a 3 year warranty, should I still stay away from it?

Huh? The OEM hard drives just don't come with a formatting disc, instructions, or anything else. You get a HD in a box. But with Maxtor (and probably all the big guys) you just go to their site, download the stuff you need, and it walks you right through the install and formatting. You can...

    s.o.s. i had a studio disaster

What you are talking about is limiting. Compressing your track to constant 6dB will sound like ass. There will be ZERO dynamic range!
