about the room treatments
I have a 12' by 12' room, "daddy's band room" as the kids call it.
The walls are not attached to the rest of the house to avoid
tranferring sound energy, and a double layer of sheetrock installed to help tame the lows.
Heavy carpeted floor with a thick pad, on...
finally
that makes me feel better,
so the Pres in the firepod are equivilant,or better than, an external behr or cheaper piece of
art gear right?
i use a 57 on snare, akg112 on the kick, and i know my overheads need
an upgrade but there mxl pencils.. cheap...
on the toms i have the audix f...
i went with the firepod..
8 channels in
8 out
plus main out
plus cue out
plus headphone out
firwire and spdif
went to Guitar Center to buy a roland vs/whatever
but the dude steered me to the firepod since i had the computer
never looked back
i didn't do any comparison but i am very very happy...
In my language "newbie" say we have a singe guiter track, recorded in
mono, since there is only one mic, or di with internal plugs, when we listen
to that track we hear it evenly out of the left and right , unless we pan it
"more" towards the left or right bus of the stereo mix we are...
my main question is.. I allready have the firepod and a mackie 1604 pro..
is there any "gain" no pun intended, in sound quality, by purchasing
an entry level or under $500 preamp?
Or should i focus on better mics?
I know these are all addressed elsewhere but not in relation to the...
I've read and read about the importance of preamps.
I came across a thread where a guy wanted to
"match the quality of the preamps in his firepod"
I use a firepod and was looking for Preamps to add to the mix
would an additional preamp make that much of a difference?
i know there...
I love it, had the idea myself.. Don't really have the need where i live. I like the dual set up hd24's and computer set up. would you use house direct outs or mic everything yourself? im assuming this would be for live rock/roll shows.
Glad i could help...:D
Took me awhile to figure out to start a new project with every song.
You can create a template to start from.
When i start a new project, i select the template and i loads
all the settings i have stored for recording my drum set.
Make sure to create a new folder for...
i don't know how to quote people yet so:
to solaris1982: great tip... thanks i can see how that will help and
ill still have the "dry track" to fall back on
to Lemontree: I am still working out the details of my miking technique
(or lack there of depending how you look at it)
I...
Yes.. I called steinberg direct and they sold me the upgrade over the phone. SHipped right to me
I requires a USB or dongle liscence key
The upgrade was $99
i cant remember if that included the key or not
If not it was only like 25.
I like essential much better than le4.
My main reason for the...
I upgraded from le to Essential 4. Lets me record more than 8 tracks at a time.
But it does not have the midi and video features like Studio 4.
Since i only do rock and roll type bands, Essential works for me.
Plus it was only $100 from Steinberg. They were very helpfull when i called
and...
Ok so how much is too much?
I used to think gating every tom kick snare with compression, little verb.
Not much done to the overheads.
Guitar tracks.. i had about five tracks that each had a:
compressor
ampmodeling
eq
My vst performance skyrocketted and i started getting clicks and pops...
I don't know how to fix your current problem. I had the same thing happened to me except i was working on one song,
and decided to empty the trash in the pool. this deleted all my other tracks from all my other songs.
Now when i start a new song, I allways create a new file under "new project"...
Fliping the saddle worked out just fine.. Thanks. I see your point about filing though.. If you need to , removing the thickness of the metal will allow you to move its position futher towards that side of the bridge. Anyone recommend good tuners?
