For some reason, it seems like I've heard this question a lot lately. And in some ways you have a point. If you use the same chain for everything, the characteristics of that chain will be noticeable. That's why people think that something has "that SSL sound" or "that Neve sound." And yes...
The DMP3 and the Tampa do sound different from each other. But, what you use your money on completely depends on what you need? Do you really need an outboard compressor like the RNC or the one that comes on the Tampa?
Also, I don't know what other people have to say about this, but I don't...
Have you listened to both? To me, they sound completely different. But, I guess it depends on how much of a difference you expect to hear. The Tampa has many more options than the DMP3. Yes, it does have a compressor. But, also, it has 4 levels of variable impedance, which definitely give...
ummmm....The Beta 58 typically sales for about $160, and at bswusa.com the SM7B is selling for $318. Now, I'm not math wiz, but, it looks to me like the price of the SM7 is actually just under 2x the price of the Beta.
I don't think that anyone has ever argued that high-quality gear can make some who has no talent sound good. That's not the point.
The point IS.....for those who actually know what they're doing, high-quality gear WILL be able to yield much higher-quality results than worse gear.
What you...
I think that it would be right to give them what they paid for it originally.
If you want to go under then mindset of "I should give them what they would get on eBay", how about you just sell it on ebay and split the money in the same manner as you did when you initially bought the piece. I...
well, as of now, i'm just trying to play mp3's that i have imported just to get the track to play. i haven't transferred any tracks over yet. and i would ibe very surprised if it doesn't play 16/44.1
What information do you need to know about my laptop? And why do I ALWAYS need to replace the stock soundcard? My intentions are basically to do drum editing while I'm on the road so that I don't have to sit in my studio to do something that doesn't require critical listening.
I use my laptop to edit drum recordings that I have done. My older laptop worked just fine for it, but I got a new one. Now that I have a new laptop, when I press play in Sonar 4 Producer Edition, nothing happens. Since I'm only doing editing on it, I'm only using and intend to continue using...
I am a huge fan of Sonar and I use pretty much no midi at all. I've used Pro Tools and don't like it nearly as much as Sonar. I don't have enough good things to say about Sonar.
Definitely don't buy cheap cables. If you spend the extra money, you won't be disappointed. Follow these guys advice on building your own. Or, if you don't want to make your own, at least invest in something of quality like a mogami cable or something of that caliber.
