    Choosing a mic patch-BR

I will try to explain based on memory, without having the machine or manual in front of me. So this might not be 100% accurate. I can explain it in better detail later if you want. To record dry but monitor w/ the effect in the phones, open the effects window and use the directional buttons...

    Choosing a mic patch-BR

Try Dry Record it dry, then go back and just add a touch of reverb & delay. (You will need to bounce it to another V-track). When recording dry, you can still monitor it w/ effect patch if you want, by setting the insert location to "dry." If that fails, use the Darth Vader patch...

    MXL 990, and 991, or SM57?

Don't Forget the 58 For live vox consider the SM58. The 990 is decent for recording vocals for the price. And the 990/991 pair are OK for stereo recording accoustic git. BTW, I use the 990 w/o a shockmount, and it's not really a problem as long as you're not stomping and flailing about.

    Clensing the Auditory Palate

Now that's funny. Seriously though, it can be as simple as choosing the order of songs for a CD or a set list.

    Clensing the Auditory Palate

There is a unique phenomenon that occurs when we listen to a recording for the first time. I believe that the way we perceive and interpret a new recording has a lot to do with what we heard immediatly beforehand. Like eating a piece of ginger in between sushi courses, it is possible, I...

I second that. I do use a few pedals, but much of the time they're all turned off.

    New Tool Album

Made a Fan out of Me I bought 10,000 Days (my 1st Tool purchase). This is an amazing piece of work. I've always enjoyed what I've heard peripherally from them, but now I can say I'm hooked and will be picking up the other releases soon.

    I hate reverb.

Try this: Slowly increase the effect level until you can just start to hear it in the mix, then reduce it about 15-20%. This will enable you to attain the essential reverb w/o the listener being consciously aware of it.

this seems like a nice guitar for the $.

Like Rokket said, don't buy a guitar on line. For one thing, you can't check the neck to make sure it's straight. And you can't observe the action either. There are any number of very common flaws that you can't check for.

Can I run my Tube amp without tubes?

I gave my daughter a pair of bongos when she was 4. She cut the heads off and used the drums as a washer & dryer for her dolls.

    BR 1600cd samples. 2 questions.

If it's similar to the BR1180, the mastering EQ has more channels than the loop EQ, so you have more control during mastering.

    Cheap guitar wireless

Don't bother with a cheap wireless. You will loose most of the attack and it will mess with your playing. At least that was my experience. Tried it once and will never do it again.

Looking to go tube:Delta blues vs. Classic 30

The Delta Blues is not powerful enough to play out with. It is a great sounding amp, but just doesn't have the headroom for clubs, gyms, etc. Although you could mic it through the house PA system.

    Dynamic ($400) vs Condensor ($400)

Someone check me here if my reply makes no sense, BUT is seems to me in an untreated room, the lack of treatment will be more apparent through a condenser.

    mxl990 for vocals and guitar

That's what he's trying to do, bro! I have a 990 that I use on vocals. Try a few different placement positions. I get my best results placing the mic at or slightly above nose level. This also forces me into a posture in which I'm projecting at a slight upward angle which helps open my pipes...

    Boss BR 1200cd help

That is very good advice. The manual that comes with the 1180 got me started, but there is a lot it doesn't cover. I presume the same applies to the 1200. I basically had to noodle around with the machine to fiqure out a lot of things. The Yahoo group is very helpful.

Crybaby. Had to clean the pot once, but aside from that it's been rockin' steady for 15 years.
