Pickup winding ? for Muttley, JCH, or any of you other fools

LOL. I'm using a rather Rube Goldbergeque device made from an old sewing machine, a mic stand (holding the wire spool, which is small,) and a six pack of IPA. :D Far too embarrassing to subject myself to the ridicule of posting pics. Time to brows your threads.

My magnetic train wreck. It WORKS! I'm shocked! It was unbelievably easy to make.Made it out of parts from a pickup I cannibalized.Only has a few hundred winds of the wrong gauge wire(32, I think.) The output is very low, but I'm amazed that it worked on my first try. Time to browse Stewmac!:D

This is by far the most difficult part for me.I really have no idea what I'm doing.I get it to work, but I lack the tools, technique and know how to really get it right.I'm learning, through trial and error, but I really need to do some real learning. Unfortunately, I'm dumber than shit! :D No...

Let me turn that question around on you. Have you ever tried one of these home made piezos?Quite effective. I've never used a "decent" pickup, if what you're referring to is a pro piezo. I couldn't afford on at the moment, anyway, and would need to try one out before I could ever commit to...
