    power conversion problem?

I forgot, if your gear runs on DC, great. Just buy a bunch of wall warts when you arrive and you're set.

    power conversion problem?

Oh dear. May I be so bold as to say that most European countries have at least as stable power supply as the US. The most important thing to remember when using US gear anywhere else is that you run 60Hz and almost all other countries run 50Hz. Voltage can easily be converted so those...

defrag or not defrag that is the question

Try reinstalling Windows, keeping off the naughty sites;) and not installing anything but what you will be using. I.e. no nifty little gadget SW and "I'll just try it and then remove it". You'll be amazed at what your computer can do if you let it. I just made a fresh W2k installation for my...

    SCSI and IDE compatible?

All motherboards (except maybe a few really odd ones) have two IDE connections, which can host two IDE devices each. So, all motherboards can have up to four IDE devices. If you need more, you can add an IDE controller card that gives you (usually) two more IDE connections. Some of these...

defrag or not defrag that is the question

To me, that's not even a question. I had terrible problems with HDD hiccups and wierd sound artifacts during playback. I thought some tracks sounded off beat and it turned out that they were a few seconds shorter per song during playback than they were when I recorded. Turned out that samples...

OK Guys, Build me your Dream Computer!

There's a 550W (continous) PSU in the computer (HP netserver LH3) I got from my office's junk collection. And SCSI RAID. And dual PIII ("only" 600MHz though). And 1GB RAM. And it runs W2k. Looks like my new DAW just arrived:D It's actually not junk at all. We used it for live operation a...

    Synthetic Fibers = bad, alternatives?

Rockwool? There are also cellulose-based insulation materials but I don't know how they behave in acoustics applications. Bare in mind though that cellulose-based insulation materials are treated with flame retardants so check if they give you problems.

    RF Shielding for Studio

The iron and lead in the vinyl are also conductives, that's the whole point. I don't think Mr Faraday would have survived had his cages been made from wood;) I guess the hardest part with aluminium is the soldering. Anyone with experience who can tell us how you managed? I don't need RF...

    RF Shielding for Studio

Does the aluminium fiol trick work? I.e. lining the entire room with regular kitchen aluminium foil and ground it? Or is it just like lining your walls with egg crates for diffusion? Can anyone verify that it works?

    SAE Reference Material Site Dead?

I don't get it. The image is right there in your post. What am I missing? You used to be able to attach pictures that showed directly in the post as opposed to putting them on a web server and post an [img] link?

    Hey Ola!

Not in Swedish:D and around here, it's 'oxygen-free'. I bought my c-port before it came bundeled with Logic and I haven't tried it. The breakout box has 10 output connectors on the back but the XLR are coupled with TS output 1&2. Just like the inputs. I use 24/96 but my computer...
