'toasting your machine' isn't a risk. if it is as easy as the mr8 is to update, there's really no reason not to upgrade. I am one of those guys that always has the newest edition of everything (especially if it cost nothing to get the newest edition) though so that might be just my opinion.

Are you running those monitors from one of your "Headphone Out" jacks? Because sometimes when you turn on your MR8 the integrated headphone amp will nastily distort the signal until you turn it off and then back on. it's just the output though. the recording stays in tact.

I don't know which one i like more. But what's with the 5 minutes of silence in the mix with drums? didn't you wonder why the mp3 was 10 megs?
