    electric or acoustic strings.

wow thanks a lot for all the info. No wonder I am having trouble with it. I've explained to my guitarist and we realized we were both partially wrong about it. Anyway just picked up some new d'addario lights and expect for all to be back to normal...just a learnin experience. -P

    strap buttons

I tried a classical guitar strap at the music store. It worked much better than I thought it would. However, I believe they are intended for the classical guitarist who normally plays seated and occasionally uses a strap. Since I will mostly always play standing I decided to have the buttons...

    Looking for new guitar, advice.

thanks for your responses guys. I am slowly beginning to explore acoustic instruments but I'm more into the music side of it at this point. Right now I am not very discriminating as to what guitar I want. And I wanted to make sure I wasn't buying a complete piece of crap. I didn't. But I...

    strap buttons

Just bought an Ibanez classical guitar. It does not have buttons for a strap and I would like to install some. Tips? Any advice of what to do/not to do? I do not want to damage it so I'm taking extra precaution. Thanks.

    tascam 4 track

just a quick question. we have a new small 4 track at practice to get ideas down here and there. I have a problem. When I push the record button the the live line-in is blaring over the other tracks that are playing. Why does this happen?

    electric or acoustic strings.

I play chords and rhythm but mainly sing. My guitar player puts electric strings on his acoustic. I'm positive they are easier to hold and manipulate, but I don't think they sound very good. Since I don't play lead I think I prefer the acoustic strings as I believe they have richer sound...

    electric or acoustic strings.

Well I'm not sure. I replaced a broken g with an electric g on my acoustic. i have intonation problems with it that I don't recall having before. A guy in my band says "you know there's no difference between electric strings and acoustic strings when it comes to the top three right?" I...

Is there a difference between electric and acoustic as far g, b and high e strings?

    Looking for new guitar, advice.

I am wanting to buy a classical acoustic/electric guitar. I've found that this is sort of a rare combination. Just wanting you guys' opinion on what to/not to look for. My spending limit is around 250. At the moment I am looking at a used Ibanez GA5TCE for 175 plus shipping. And what is...

Anyone know how to get this sound?

I think I hear your "slapback" echo suggestion. Would it be timed at about 200ms, so the repeat would hit on the "e" of 1e&a2? Also, does this sound like a classical guitar to you guys?

Anyone know how to get this sound?

Here's a sample from a song (zip format). I am not sure how to get an acoustic guitar to sound like this. My guess so far is some sort of chorus effect, possibly nylon strings also? What do you guys think... THanks. -P

    Anyone care to collaborate?

I'm not really desperate for drums, or anything, I just thought it would be interesting to collaborate over the internet with someone of like tastes. punk? i don't know where to start, what do you have in mind? hehe

    Songs

It depends on the music. If you have 5 minutes of great detailed lyrics that you are very proud of, why trash half of them? You have to work at it, to fill the song with music in all of those 5 minutes. Riffs/fragments/lyric-ideas all come to you pretty fast, but arranging everything is the...

A couple of my bands songs

I listened to your samples. You sound like a pretty aggressive/crazy rocker...it's hard to imagine you sitting at a computer posting your recordings on a message board. Are you pissed off when you write songs? What thoughts and ideas go into your music? I think the ideas that people are...

    "if i go" - original...critique?

I think you did a really good job with the recording. Your timing is dead on with all instruments. Everything is in pitch perfect. Being a songwriter/vocalist there are some things I don't like in your song structure...particularly the constant 3syllable/gap/3syllable/gap style. I don't...

    any self taught singers here?

re It believe it is essentially an intuitive thing. I also agree to sing to your favorite songs, it makes practice enjoyable. If you can already play any melodic instrument well, you will probably be able to identify when you are out of tune and with practice you will easily be able to...

    Anyone care to collaborate?

Do any drummers or whatevers care to collaborate on something over internet? I think it would be an interesting process. I mainly write vocal/guitar. I play a little drums too but don't have means to record at this point. Perhaps I would learn a lot from you, or opposite. Here's some of my...

    What is a drummer for?

Obviously something has to be done, I can't just stop in the song. I rely a lot on his beat, I listen close so that we are tight together. Therefore when he gets sloppy I fall off. I think if he played tight, and everyone listened close to him and they were tight, we would all be perfect in...

    What is a drummer for?

I got pretty frustrated with my band today and I would like you guys' opinion on the subject. I sing/play acoustic for a 4 guy group. We are doing some sort of technical stuff with "trading" back and forth of guitar chords...oddly placed timing. I feel that in order to get it tight, we need a...

    Help with keyboard voice

re:arpeggiator I am not sure if I have sequencer. Are you suggesting that it's possible that I have one built into my qs6 keyboard? There are sample songs you can listen to if that means anything... The reason I thought my keyboard was capable of this sound is because there is a factory...
