    Psych Ward - Greg_L original

The mix is great! Nice and open, room for everything. Vox sound great. BU vox are great. I really like the lead tone. This is a really great mix. The solo at the very end is a bit heavy on the 3k for my taste, or maybe just a tad loud. That's really a taste thing. I think this is one of...

    Plan B....comments??

Cool:D The only thing I would say is that the yelling vox are a bit too far out front. Great job!!! F.S.

    It's been a while

Cool song. The picked guitar at the begining has a real resonance around 250hz or so. At 1:23 when a strummed guitar and a bongo(?) come in on the left it could use a really quick fade in on that first hit/attack. Just to soften the leading edge a little. You might try a longer fade just to...

Final mixes on my band's CD in entirety: need comments on what mastering could help!

You know, I have used a studio a few times. It was not a high dollar studio, but $35.00 per hour including engineer. I have had decent results, but not results that could stand up to mastering well. With the luxury of time on my side and a decent set-up, I have been able to do better than that...

    Almost finished, thoughts?

Very nice! Part of me wants a bit more brightness in the lead guitar, but I rather like the mellowness of the song the way it is. I would likely mess around with the hi's just to see for my self. Great stuff. ***EDIT**** just realized I had my hi's pulled from listening to Stevehs album. I...

Final mixes on my band's CD in entirety: need comments on what mastering could help!

I'd say trimming of the hi's is going to be he way to go. You would end up pretty scooped if you worked the bottom and it would not unmask the impact of the guitars. Some songs need it more than others. The important thing is that this should by no means be a undoable. I don't think it will be...

Listen to my first tune tracked to an Otari MTR 90.

Not bad. Pretty poppy for sure. The vocals are my biggest complaint. Not that the singing is bad, it's just that they are a little too dynamic and a honkey too. It's a pretty rough track (imho) to have to mix. I really can't understand much of the lyrics. The drums might give you a hard time...

looking for a frequecy conscious gate vst

the VC64 channelstrip that comes with sonar6 and maybe newer versions has one on it. VC64 is made by another company that has it's own version, but I can't remember the company off the top of my head. I will do a bit of looking. It's a decent freq dependent gate and it's part of a very nice...

    Captain Anstis EP, Genre:Hardcore/Metal

Sounds good. Was any hi pass used on the kick at all? It might be reaching a bit low causing a ducking feel. I don't get it much on my setup, but I can tell what people are saying. Maybe it needs carved out more too... Hard to say. Good Luck F.S.

First real shots of new live room.

Thanks Rick, Those look nice and easy to make. I have been using makeshift temporary ones that work pretty well I do need to get a better set up. If nothing else I have been taking a boom stand. Making it like a T and hanging heavy comforters or sleeping bags over them. They actually work to...

First real shots of new live room.

Thanks Rick. Ya, Lots of work to do $$$$$$$$$;) There is a guy that has a 6 panel drum iso/absorber wall for sale local for $200.00. if it's as decent as it looks it's a steel. In the long run I am going to have a drum ISO room with a window to the main room. The room is already there right...

    iranian jazzy fusion feedback welcome

Interesting. Sounds good. The room must have been decent. How much did you leave the room mic's up in the mix? There we go. Things get a bit funkier 2/3 through with the addition of the sax. Now that's Jazz!:) I think the overall mix is good. Might like to hear a bit more room if the room...
