Tried to write a perfect 3 minute single but it's 3.01

We've put together a lyric video for the song if anyone is interested:

    Can you Hear me

Recording is excellent, voice is fantastic, atmosphere also great - the only thing I'd like to hear is something a bit more specific or unexpected in the lyrics.

    Green Angry Man

Like it, spoken vocal reminds me of Tom Waits, and I do like a good gear change in a song so the change at 3.00 suits me.

    Goose Stepping

Can't see anything wrong with that mix, or the song. Like the lyrics and the delivery.

    Uprising !

Wow, that has plenty of impact! Agree the vocals are low, but to me that doesn't necessarily matter unless you want people to be able to make out the lyrics.

Tried to write a perfect 3 minute single but it's 3.01

Many thanks Synth Dev - I should clarify that I have been writing songs since I was about 16, just taking it more seriously now, hence the return to this forum..

Tried to write a perfect 3 minute single but it's 3.01

Thanks Mark, most of my books are for kids (if that's what you're referring to), usually humourous. Had a lot of success in the noughties, been downhill since then!

Song - Kicking out the days

Don't lose that first mix! Something of the subtle ambience has been lost in the remix - as others have said, people have different tastes and expectations, no harm in putting two versions out!

Tried to write a perfect 3 minute single but it's 3.01

Hi all, it's been 12 years since I last posted but I haven't forgotten the great feedback I got here all those years ago. 67 now but having written over 60 books I've decided to give that up to perfect the craft of songwriting, now aided and abetted by my 11 year-old daughter. Recently dug out...

    Putting wav files onto MR8

    Thanks Terfyn.

    Putting wav files onto MR8

Excuse my ignorance, but does anyone know any way of taking wav files off a PC and putting them onto an MR8? I've always done it by making a CD and recording off that, but I'm sure there's a better way.

how do you write a bridge? Song structure in general?

I agree with the people who've said not to be formulaic, but it's worth pointing out that many of the pro hitmakers are totally formulaic when it comes to song structure and the use of a bridge. For me it's totally instinctive - sometimes a quite standard break, sometimes no bridge at all...

    feedback on some tunes

Want a manager? I can see some fantastic potential here, but what a mixed bag! First of all, you've got the most important requirement - a voice. Sounds better on Blind Love (STP starts out of tune), though BL cries out for the harmonies you use to good effect on STP. BL needs the chorus...

David Hasselhoff came to me in a dream

You mean you didn't take it seriously, Bigbubba? How can I make people realise I'm sincere?

David Hasselhoff came to me in a dream

It's completely true. The Hoff bade me write him a soft rock classic which he could take to no 1 in Germany. You can hear the result at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=518272&songID=4785505 Comments welcome, but please, no hero worship. I'm just an ordinary guy touched by our...

    punkrock

Yeah, this has definitely got the spirit of punk, speaking as someone who was doing it (to the best of my limited ability) in 77. Mix sounds great to me. Really would like the hear the vocal now. Have you got a lyric? Great thing about punk was how it opened up every area of life for songs...

Album recorded in my kitchen on an MR8

Thanks Rockabilly. I hope you retired the wee red box of doom for something even better. Since I posted this 'Closure' has gone way up in the Soundclick acoustic chart, and if anyone wants to help it a little further (my first no 1 even?), please do!

    Album inspired by Homerecording.com

Thanks for that Ray - and thanks to all those who are keeping 'Closure' in the Soundclick acoustic general chart top 20. Must have done something right there!
