I'm going insane: All sorts of problems with Aardvark/Cakewalk

Like the vocals being a half-second behind the drums and a quarter second ahead of the guitar, and so on. Ptron

I'm going insane: All sorts of problems with Aardvark/Cakewalk

O.K., this is getteng weird Something is really wacko. I tried again to listen to some of what I recorded. When I open the bundle file, sometimes a loading meter appears at the bottom and it takes a second to load the audio. Sometimes it just opens. The track colors suddenly changed from...

I'm going insane: All sorts of problems with Aardvark/Cakewalk

Sorry this is kinda long but I'm trying to be thorough. Here's my setup: AardvarkQ10 Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 (soon to be Sonar 2.2XL) WindowsXP Athlon 1400 processor 512 Mb DDRam 2 Western Digital 40gig 7200rpm Hard drives IWILL motherboard with either AMI or ALI chipset (I don't know which is...

What are the main diffs between 2.2XL, 2.2, and CWPA9?

"If you are happy with n-Track, why change?" Because I want the mastering plug-ins. I'm also assuming that once I get up and running, it will have other features I find important. I already went ahead and ordered it. I hope it's worth it because it's more $ than I really can afford. Looks like...

What are the main diffs between 2.2XL, 2.2, and CWPA9?

O.K. I don't know why I couldn't find this stuff on their site before but Sonar 2.2 XL = Sonar 2.2 + mastering software and drum sample thingy. Not being totally familiar with Pro Audio 9 yet, I'm not sure, but it looks to me like PA9 does most things Sonar does with a few less bells and...

    Question from a guitarist

The most important part of a guitar sound is the speaker. Guitar speakers drop off in frequency response very quickly at about 4 khz. The best guitar amp in the world will sound like pure shit going through a full range speaker, ESPECIALLY when distorted. That's what speaker/cabinet...

What are the main diffs between 2.2XL, 2.2, and CWPA9?

I was sure there would already be a thread on this but I didn't see one. I also found suprisingly little info on this on Cakewalk's site. What are the main differences between Pro Audio 9, Sonar 2.2, and Sonar 2.2XL? I have Pro Audio 9. It came with my soundcard. I haven't really used it yet...

I''ve been down for a while but thanks for all the replies. This is what I was trying to do: 1) install a second HD as slave 2) Use XP to partition it in two and format 3) move C: drive over to new HD 4) make new drive master and old drive slave 5) format old drive and use for music stuff...

External mic pre -> signal chain for Q10

"You always plug everything all the way in. Balance and unbalanced both work in these inputs." This is true for the 1/4" inputs on the front, NOT true with the inserts on the back. Ptron

External mic pre -> signal chain for Q10

I checked the manual to be sure. The 1/4 inch inputs are for line level signals. They can be balanced or unbalanced. They do not go through the same pre's the XLR inputs do. Inputs 7 & 8 have a button you can push to make them direct guitar/bass/whatever inputs. I don't know if this just sends...

Sooo...what do I do with my old souncard?

I'm just about to crack open my computer to install my Aardvark Q10 and...well... what do I do with the ol' soundblaster? Sorry if this is a stupid question but do I toss it? Does it still need to be in there for the more mundane audio tasks like letting me know I've got mail? Ptron

External mic pre -> signal chain for Q10

"Is it as simple as: mic > XLR cable > pre > 1/4 cable > rear 1/4 insert on back of Q10." Well I haven't even hooked up my Q10 yet, so I'm not answering with 100% certainty but, no. It's simpler. (Is simpler a word?) Use the 1/4" part of one of the combo jacks on the front. They are line...

Ideas/theories on doin' stuff to the signal before tracking

I'm about to dive into the world of multi-track computer recording and it's got me wondering about the pros and cons of manipulting a signal before it's tracked. As in, before it gets to the D/A converters. I guess a HUGE factor would be the quality/features of your software vs. your outboard...
