help! wht's the right stuff for recording a whole rock band at once?

Hi all! Now I wanted to record some band stuff, people around here are really busy, so I want them to come in, lay the tracks and leave the place to do their own work, while I work with their recorded materials. I want to try to record everything in one take, however, I didn't thought of doing...

    About playing live in sync

Very true, thanks for sharing, I'm feeling as glorious in the past. Comparing those band spirit with the one I saw in this boring city, we have far more things to catch up.

    About playing live in sync

That's very true and it's what I've forgotten. While I was in Australia finishing my high school, that's what I've seen in my friend's band practice and I didn't notice that it's this force - the invisible and unspoken communication, drived me into watching them and stand by doing a lot of...

    About playing live in sync

Hi all: I have this question which can't find a place to post and it's about doing live. How are the stars playing in time everytime on stage. Or how could we make everyone to play in sync during a recording? Everyone listen to the metronome? If this is the case, where do the metronome goes...

Is this a matter of dynamic headroom?

Oops, may be u are right, but how loud should a recording session be? the drum is a bit loud and we want to hear a sound that is about the same level as it, is that a wrong idea for recording? Or that limited headroom receiving device is not able to handle "that loud" in "that close" to the...

Is this a matter of dynamic headroom?

Dear guys: I have currently try to do a recording with my band and it's the first time I get to use my mics, audio interface and mixer for recording real instruments which required a certain amount of knowledge on mic positioning. After we finished the recording, we hear obvious clipping on...

Should I compare EV Cobalt co4 and AKG d90s with shure sm57or58?

Hi I wonder if it make sense to compare EV Cobalt co4 and AKG d90s with shure sm57or58. Since I do not have any microphone yet and I would like to find some second hand ones in my country and the EV and AKG are the models that I found I found cheap for second hand, nothing used for the shure...

Applying an analog mixer for my computer base music creation

Thanks, I will try to do that. Also, it's just my imagination that if a mixer with USB or firewire output can control a software like the midi controllers do, I don't think they will give you the deal with that little of money, even it's so convinient for them to add such function. Kenoir

Applying an analog mixer for my computer base music creation

But one more question: Do anyone think any brand's mixing desk with USB or Firewire capable of handling a more than 2 tracks during recording? thanks!

Applying an analog mixer for my computer base music creation

Ya Creamy apples: I gues I mistakenly thought the mixer's purpose is to get chance to "touch" the real eq knob to increase efficiency during mixing back to the computer's hard drive - which I'm trying to do a controller's job by the knobs on the mixing desk. I got your meaning now, you mean...

Applying an analog mixer for my computer base music creation

I think analogue mixer do fine for me because I need to send the signal out "just before" I mix all tracks together into a stereo. For me I will not deal too much about eq-ing before mixing, but I will still get close to it and be aware when choosing synthesized or sampled sounds. One thing...

Applying an analog mixer for my computer base music creation

Creamy apple: right, that's what I wanna do, but the new generation mixer with USB or FIREWIRE have problems of simulataneouly feeding more than 2 tracks and can result in a decreased processing speed on the computer, right? Kenoir

Applying an analog mixer for my computer base music creation

I wish I could get one. But the price is not so favorable for me at the moment. Also, I would rather looks for some second hand just to keep the cost down, therefore if I could get a used second hand mixer and a new audio card, that will be good. And I see one problem of those m audio device u...

Applying an analog mixer for my computer base music creation

I have been a bit tied up in thinking how can I possibly send my audio signal from my computer programs into the mixer for mixing then back into my computer's hard drive for mixing. In my acknowledgement, I would need, 1 - a sound card with sufficient I/O, since I would have a diversity of...

Behringer BCA 2000 or Edirol UA 25??

Dear guys: Finally the come for me to buy an interface, but should I get Behringer BCA 2000 or Edirol UA 25?? Looks like BCA 2000 have more emphasis on the mic, amp, monitring and various types of input. While UA 25 emphasize more on the low latency for the midi inputs, am I right? Or they...
