doesn't bother me...because it's true. now if you had said something about my guitar playing....ah, that wouldn't bother me either.

    DIY digital drumkit in production

you are correct - more foam would have been better. I used something like a 1/8 packing sheet-type foam (simply because I had it laying around), and screws went through the lids, through the foam, and into the board. what it should have been was either several sheets of thicker foam, or a...

    Caveman Metal

This is what cave men would play if you gave them a DIY drum set and a couple o' guitars. http://members.cox.net/jpgpics/CavemanJam.mp3 advice/comments/critiques welcome... arg.

    DIY digital drumkit in production

... Sorry for the long delay....took me awhile to figure out the unit and then record. The final out come is....they are damn hard to play. I can't seem to stop the false triggering and sometimes no triggering during recording. Then I'll check it, and it will seem fine. Must be my...

    DIY digital drumkit in production

good idea. I think I'll need to incorporate a practice pad like that for the kick. Board is working pretty good. All triggers work, but I just haven't had any time to learn the module and program what triggers are which. I hope to have a sound clip tomorrow after I program it...

    DIY digital drumkit in production

Their midi brain must have some type of flaw. Which sucks because it seemed like they were onto something using an sr-16 for the sounds - I like that unit. Props for the heads up on its downfalls, because I think it's looked tempting to a lot of people (including me). This is probably common...

    DIY digital drumkit in production

... The board is complete, and the kick drum trigger unit is almost complete. A little tweaking, and I'll have a soundclip with guitars and bass by this weekend, as well as pics of the final product. What are typical light drum sticks - 5Bs?

Ion iED01 Electronic Drums - Adequate?

I'm anxious to hear the results! Is there any problems with hitting a pad or pedal and not having a signal go through? Is there any crosstalk (hit one pad, and another goes off)?

    E-drumset

I toyed with the idea of modding an SR-16. When you figure for what it's worth to destroy the machine basically, it's a lost cause. I just sold an SR-16 (acutally the ion version) for $69 on ebay. I've seen D4's go for $120. Might as well get the real deal (or a Yamaha TMX) and do it yerself.

Metal Guitar Tone - Critiques please!

that's pretty amazing. I thought you had copied and pasted some tracks, it's so tight. nice sound. I'd like more highs, but these computer speakers at work suck, so...

    DIY digital drumkit in production

I actually obtained the ion drum machine portion for a brief stint, not realizing it was just an SR-16. I thought it was a modified SR-16, but the ion trigger brain is a separate unit. I've read bad things about the trigger interface - that it doesn't always send the signals through. The...

my first post didn't post . . . how can i better record?

... hmmm. the pickup could be a stock Jackson brand or duncan-designed (not good) or a real duncan (good). but it's probably not too bad either way. the cab is probably kick-ass compared to what the crate will be, but try out the crate anyway. what suprises me is the use of a distortion...

    DIY digital drumkit in production

Part I. I recently decided to go with a module off Ebay and DIY triggers for drums, instead of a programmable drum machine or computer-based program. Maybe my silly escpades will help people attempting to do DIY digital drums. I know there are several websites about it, but this is even...

my first post didn't post . . . how can i better record?

... Could be many things going on here. To me, it sounds like the pickup might be stock Ibanez, Shecter, whatever. Is it halfway decent, like an EMG, Duncan, Dimarzio, Bill-n-Becky Lawrence? That can make a world of difference. The amp head - what is it, and is the distortion coming from...

Drum Machine recorded to the comp...

... I get the idea you just want to record the drums onto a track in pro tools. Come out the headphones out and go into the computer's line in. I guess you could use a preamp or mixer in between the drum machine and computer, but might not be necessary - I think they pump out some good...

    drum machine for metal

... I used to program some sick death metal on a Boss/Roland MKii I think it was called. It just had a great layout, and once you get the programming down it goes pretty fast. I can't stand any drum programming that involves me clicking with a mouse, so I always go with external type units...

    Extreme Black/death Metal Round 2

... I had it turned down talking to a co-worker, then when I turned it up, it was an onslaught of KILLER sweep arpeggios. nice.
