Though this thread is 4 weeks old...
I have new information for those of us without effects loops on our amps...Xotic Pedals makes the X-Blender which is basically an effects loop pedal. I am using 12 pedals (and counting...soon to be picking up a BK Butler TubeDriver). Not all of my pedals...
Double Ditto...
You can also find a used Roland Juno G (occasionally) from CL for $5-600 bucks. The Juno G utilizes the Fantom Synth engine and is awesome. I researched the crap out of the (mainly) the MM6 and got the same response as those above...it's a toy. I do like and use Yamaha and...
Yes, I've known this for many years, AND
I still own and use my Memorymoog (and Moogerfooger Murf 105)...BUT I still like to say "MOOOOOOOOG" like a cow vs. Moog like rogue. I just like the way it rolls off of my tongue...sorry.
Well, in my case...
I'm a musician who has been hacking at home recording for a long time. You had an issue with the vocal track(s) and I simply thought of a logical resolution based on past experience. Nine will get you ten though, that the resident "engineers" on this website have a much...
Leave the window alone!
Don't you want to look out for inspiration/ideas! Sound proof around the area with carpet, egg cartons, foam panels etc. Let the sound bounce off the window unless it is a serious professional studio. Move the monitors/sound sources in the area in front of, but not...
It's all part of the learning process...
even after 20 odd years of home recording, I'm learning too and this website is a great way to communicate with others in the same boat (so to speak:D)
Of course the simplest solution...
is to lower the volume on the other tracks, and THEN play with the EQ on the vocals. Lowering the volume is the easiest way to gain headroom in the stereo spectrum. Again, just trying to help...my advice could be all wet, but I'm learning too...
Well, not knowing if this is even possible with your rig..
what I've done in the past (as I don't use computer DAW, but DO use an outboard digital multitrack unit) is run my Alesis 3630 compressor into the multitracks effects loop (send/return etc) and compress the signal(s) on mixdown, but...
Well, I've got a 32 channel mixing board, so I've got...
33 Preamps (right?)...I also have an outboard Behringer mic/guitar preamp to go with the 32 individual channel preamps my Eurodesk MX3282A.
Walking away won't hurt the song!
It's ironic but I'm working on (what I think will be) one of the best things I've ever done. I'm giving it time though, and not rushing the mix and things are filling in nicely.
I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but...
give the vocals plenty of headroom. Lots of tracks to get that extra OOMPH. Just a suggestion though. Good luck!
I feel your pain!
I've been in the same situation countless times before, in fact, I have been working on the same song now for about a week. What works...if I feel that the vibe is just not there..I simply walk away and save the song for another day (or maybe work on another project). I've...
One of these days...
I'll need to take a family photo, but my rundown is as follows:
'91 Gibson Les Paul Studio
'01 Gibson ES 135
'08 Epiphone ES 175 Re-Issue (say what you will but she's beautiful)
'07 PRS Custom SE
'86 Fender Japanese Squire Stratocaster (REALLY nice for a Squire)
'08 Fender...
Damn, what a girlfriend...
My wife thinks I have WAY TOO MUCH CRAP and I need to get rid of it all...
Anyway, think about a Tascam DR 07, or DP004 (check the Tascam website for more info)...
These are great little digital portable recorders that are not too terribly expensive...
I have a DR 660...
Along with an Alesis HR16 and SR 16. I like the 660 sounds better than the Alesis units. I don't do any programming so I can't tell you how easy or difficult it might be (but it's a pretty straight forward little unit, so it can't be that bad). Again, I would say the...
