    Cubase newbie-VERY low record levels

The card mixer levels (in and out) are great. It's the Cubase mixer level input that barely registers. The mic is a Shure Beta 58A (dynamic) so not phantom powered. (Just picked up a Rode K2 but want to make sure everything is proper before hooking it up.) As I said, the card mixer shows great...

    Cubase newbie-VERY low record levels

Hey guys. Just installed Cubase SE. The audio card levels (in/out) are great, but the recording levels in Cubase are VERY low. I have to yell (mic) to get a small reading in the Cubase levels. Here's the setup: input : Mic > RNP8380 mic preamp > Lynx L22 audio card > Cubase output: L22 >...

    Permission for pre-recorded tracks?

Hey guys. The Situation I have a vocalist in the family that can really wail on the blues/soul/gospel stuff. She wants to create a CD of her own songs plus a few with her vocals over some karaoke style soundtracks. Ideally we'd like to make the CD available on her web site and see what happens...

    PC software suggestions

Hey St. Thanks for responding. I'll be using a Lynx L22 PCI audio card as the interface. That gives me 24-bit/200kHz and is supposed to be "quite". I'm looking for reviews or comments on the software but so far the sites I've found just list the same material that is found on the manufacturers...

    PC software suggestions

Alrighty. This is probaly the millionth time this question has come up. It's a PC based system. I'm covered for harware (I think). Trying to decide on software to use for recording. So far I'm looking at CW Home Studio 2004 XL or Steinberg's Cubase SE Hybrid. The price is the same ($100-$150)...

    PC software advice?

Hey guys. I'm running a PC based unit with a 24/196 PCI card. All I need to do is record vocals for pre-made soundtracks (for now). So I need to load in the soundtrack then record vocals while the track is playing. I want to be able to open multiple tracks in the same window and re-record...

    AKG K 271 headphones

I just bought a pair a couple weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to do much with them yet. I bought them from Music123.com. They were advertising about 5 pair on eBay. Starting bid was $139. I got a pair for $143 plus shipping.

    Options for recording vocals?

Hey Wocka. I checked out the components you mentioned. Excellent stuff! I think you just put my system together (but I will go for the Lynx L22). :) Thanks. Roger

    LynxOne or LynxL22?

I like the brass ring. :) Yes, the LynxStudio site mentions that the Two and L22 have updated/upgraded converter from the One. Also the One has 24-bit/50kHz analog I/O vs. the Two series with 24-bit/200kHz. That's gotta make a difference. Ok, newbie time... Do you still need a separate sound...

    LynxOne or LynxL22?

Excluding issues of expansion, the question is difference in quality/accuracy. Is the LynxL22 much better than the LynxOne? I assume L22 is the 2nd generation which implies all-around improvements. Is it worth the extra cost (roughly $250)? Thanks.

    Options for recording vocals?

Many recordings, not planning on more than one vocal track at a time. No musicians for the foreseeable future (vocals on pre-recorded tracks).

    Options for recording vocals?

Yea, the USB connection is a bit of a concern. Limiting the data transfer speed over other methods. Particularly if you're dasiy chaining (which I am not). Sounds like some good info and suggestions. I'll check it out. Thanks wockachucka.

    Options for recording vocals?

Best bang If "diminishing returns" is correct then that setup would probably do. But I don't mind spending more if I know I'm getting better quality. I'm just like that. :) The strategy is simple. My wife is a vocalist. We want to be able to record for demos or submissions or whatever and I...

    Options for recording vocals?

Very cool. Thanks APL. Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I know I've seen the Tascam name everywhere in this forum but I have to ask... Are there better/higher quality products/brands offering the same components? I know I'm not setting up a pro shop but I want to make sure the...

    Options for recording vocals?

Hey guys. Recordings are for a vocalist so all I need to do is record vocals only for pre-recorded tracks. Plus some way to hook up "real" monitors/speakers for evaluating. Budget is around $1000 (not including speakers) but I would consider up to $2000 if the quality increase is worthy. My...
