    recording metal drums

Allright. But as the drummer is probably not going to learn to play "right" in a decent period of time anyway, and a recording must be made: -Treat the room, a "cloudlike" softmaterial between the cymbals and the roof works somewhat, blankets allover the place, walls and floor. Now that that...

    recording metal drums

Well, I'm not a drummer. But even I can tell you that the cymbals JUST DON'T sound the SAME if you hit them SOFTLY enough to kill all bleed. Period. If you're playing Metal, them cymbals are expected to f*cking Explode here and there. Not "ping--sshhhhhh...." more like "KASHASHHHHHHH!!!!!"...

    Tinnitus

First, I have 2-year hearing check-ups due to work, had one today, my hearing is flawless across the board, except a slight notch on the 6000hz region on one ear. And I play this kind of stuff: http://serif.pp.fi/haaska/kplnrokuusi.mp3 But even drunk as a skunk, I wear earplugs, I've got...

Is there such a thing? where? whynot?

8 SIMULTANIOUS channels, and possible to sync 2 for 16 channels?.. At that price, yes, very desirable. :D I've had a H4 for some time, and I've been very happy about it, good enough sound and portable, all I wanted more was 8 channels.

Is there such a thing? where? whynot?

THAT'S close enough!.. :D batteries, sd-card.. don't use the built-in effects, and don't need it to hook up with my PC, but that's small potatoes, and price isn't bad too... Thanks!

Is there such a thing? where? whynot?

OK, I overdid it on the batteries. flash and size.. I've had my eye on the D888 too, cheapest I can find with 8 inputs. And it still has eq, panning, outputs and shit I'll end up doing on a PC.. With Sound devices gadgets, It'll be cheaper to throw a recording at the local studios....:eek...

Is there such a thing? where? whynot?

I'm talking about a digital recorder. One that records, say, 8 xlr-inputs simultaniously, with gain control, to a flash-memory. That's it. Maybe a hole for headphones to listen what the mics are catching one by one. If batterypowered, I could manage with dynamic mics, no phantom needed. NO...

    Back/Chest Pains?

I'm being weighted by a LP baritone.. Keeping at least two 2-3hour rehealsals standing up per week got me pretty well used to the weight, albeit sharp, short pains from my fretting shoulder and side of my neck started to occur.. But 10 days without rehealsals, and feel the cramping muscles...

    Distortion Guitar Clarity

I'd say, that the pickups and their adjustments have the most significance, the string gauges also, but the mic placement the least, when it comes to clarity of notes. I for one use .014 strings by D'Addario, tried some .013 "Zakk Wylde"-set, and discarded them because I couldn't hear the...

    Distortion Guitar Clarity

The sample by Phillbagg sounded a lot like some kind of a distortion-pedal to me... That kind of "overly-gainyy" distortion I remember getting from a Zoom Tri-Metal pedal times ago, also, there really wasn't a lot of dynamics in that sound IMHO, more violin kinda sounds without severe...

    Noisy effects? 9v?

I kinda thought I'd need a small delay to take out the "dryness" of my sound, tried a couple of pedalpowering thingies, both gave me hiss, kicked the damn things into the corner and haven't looked back. Less hassle to gig with.

Recording the band as a whole?

Heeellllllyyyeah!... This is more a studio-related than a home-recording question. Lets presume there is a band that's recording a full-length album and are promised a deal to market and spread it by some company, but they are on their own while producing the album. Their drummer is also...

    30w-50w gainy heads?

OK... now this thing took a turn to the left, bigtime.. For some months, I've been wieving amps in Ebay from a guy labeled "Ontariomaximus" that manufactures "Phaez" named amps, tube, p2p, quite gainy and simple. There are plenty of clips of Phaez amps in youtube and googling results in...

    30w-50w gainy heads?

That Carvin seems GREAT... Nice tone and NOT overpriced to the maximum! (Carvin website quotes under 600 euros!.. Local seller 1050euros. :D) ..even switchable to 50watts. But Why the hell does it look like an aeroplane cockpit with zillion knobs!!.. That's why I like Orange stuff, But I'm...

    30w-50w gainy heads?

...Major Tour.. Is a bit Oblique. I'm not playing stadiums, these are all indoor gigs. Maybe 300 to 400 people or so... I don't need clean headroom, just the opposite, but I've noticed that the characters of a tube amp are nowhere to be found before the power tubes are distressed a bit, all my...

    30w-50w gainy heads?

Yep, cheapest used single rectifier I could find here was 1200 euros. 1740 dollars. Yep, no Mesa for me. Just had a kid month ago and all... Could get a used Framus Dragon cheaper, but that's too much wattage. :D Looking at reviews for the Marshall. No, I don't think renting would be a...

    Direct Input or Cab Mic?

DI. Leaves the mixer bass-line clean, no matter how severe punishment the poor 30watter must receive for the bassist to hear anything from it.:D

    30w-50w gainy heads?

The band is called Cavus, I'm playing a baritone as the single guitarist.. (http://www.myspace.com/cavusmusic) ENGL is just too dry for my taste, others may say "tight".. But I like my dist/crunch have some loose/juice in it. From Mesa, well, haven't actually played one, It could be right from...

    30w-50w gainy heads?

Hi!! I've been playing guitar in a band that's kinda picking up a little lately, gigs coming warming up some "bigger" metal bands. Usual shit. The thing is, I've fooled around with my russian amps, and like them, but can't trust'em to tour. :o -Sovtek mig-30 with a Koch pedaltone in front...
