    1 of two options

OK, so I've decided that I need to either buy a M-audio/Midiman flying calf D/A convertor or a M-audio/Midiman super DAC 2496 D/A convertor; both 24 bit. Links for those who care: http://www.midiman.net/products/m-audio/supdac.php http://www.soundslive.co.uk/common/moreinfo.asp?ID=1439 I have...

    Any opinions?

Cheers Chessrock; I'm still having trouble finding the ART's over here in the UK.

    58 is a 57 right?

The Shure 57 and 58 are the same mic aren't they apart from the pop shield on the front of the 58 more suited to vocals and the 57 to instruments (generally speaking). If you take the top off the 58 you have another 57 don't you; I just need to verify this. Thanks, Krystof.

    mic pres for drum kit?

Soundcraft M series The Allen & Heath mixers are nice but a bit more expensive than the Soundcraft mixers. I f you can find a Soundcraft M4/8/ or 12 then be sure to try it out. I just got my M12 last this week and have been using it a great deal already. It has the Soundcrafts ghost preamps...

    What do I do!!!!!!!!!

Wow; sonnylarsen you replied as I replied to Gidge. I am using my D16 (stand alone digital hard drive recorder) and burning wav. files to CD-R, I then put them into my ROM drive and take it from there. I don't want to do any recording or editing, I just want to use the spectural analyser to...

    Les Pauls

Personal opinion; don't go for the studio or a lesser model. The best advise I can give for searching for a Paul is don't buy one mail order, you have to play them. Like you say, it's in the sound and that is what you have to look for; there are some nice LP's out there but some of them just...

    What do I do!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I downloaded the n-track demo and also the spectural analyser from brainspawn. All I want to do is to open up a wav. file in n-track and use the brainspawn as a plugin; I can't work out how I do this. I have the wav.files on CD, I guess I just open them up by going to open wav.file in...

    Any opinions?

So would you say that the Art is only good enough with tne mods, can you do them yourself? The Art is quite hard to find over here (UK) at the moment. Concerning the M-Audio/midiman. There seems to be two options, the -Midiman Flying Calf D/A -M-audio Super DAC 2496 high performance D/A...

    Any opinions?

What does anyone think about these units, the ART is half the price of Midiman. I don't want colouring of sound, I just want to take my digital sound from my D16 digital recorder to analogue format without noise and without degrading the sound (or as little as possible). Are either of them...

    I can't tell

Hi, I have the vintage synth board installed, it came with it (I bought it second hand), would you recommend the session board or the piano board. The piano only has less than half the patches but is the same price.

    I can't tell

Oh so what your saying is that I should buy the session expansion board; that's going to set me back £165; is it worth it?

    I can't tell

Damn. I thought with the 1080 being more expensive that it would have all the 1010 presets and more; with better quality. What should I buy then for piano sounds, baring in mind I've just bought the 1080 I could only really buy some sort of expansion board. Thanks, Krystof.

    I can't tell

Hi, I received my Roland jv1080 today and strated playing around with it. I haven't had time to tweak the parameteres yet so just went through the presets; I have to say that on first hearing I was a little dissapointed with the piano patches (I also got a piano pcm card incuded which I also...

    Calling Sounsman or anyone else/LXP-1

Sounsman, I've been reading through the archives and have seen you highly recommend the Lexicon LXP-1; I think I'm going to buy one second hand but I've heard that it can be quite a noisey unit, is this the case? Will the noise vary unit to unit? I could get the mpx-500 but I want plain reverb...

    24bit through 16bit fx

Hi, I am planing on buying a Lexicon lxp1 (which I think is 16bit, right?). I am recording at 24 bit in my Korg D16 and I would be going from the aux out through the lxp1 and back into the D16; is this a bad idea, what are the audio implications? Thanks, Krystof.
