    the return of lo-fi

Gotta put in another "hear, hear!" for Pixies, one of my all time favorites. On a slightly OT point briefly mentioned by someone here, I'm usually wishing the live band sounded more like the recording than vice-versa. I saw Pixies and Love and Rockets once and was pretty disappointed. Not...

    Logic Automation

I suspect it keeps trying to jump back to other settings because you're not erasing them- you're only erasing/modifying automation data as you're recording and once you release the mouse(or hyper draw), the modification ends at that point in the song. Any automation that occurs at a later point...

    Logic Automation

Not sure what you mean. The most common mixer, at least to me, IS the environment- the "audio environment." If you open an environment window, there's a little area over to the left where you can select *which* environment you want, like audio, global etc. There are three mixers. Track mixer...

    Logic Automation

You're recording automation in the arrange window? On a track set to "audio playback 1-16?" I don't know much beyond what's in that thread linked to in my previous post. If you've tried all that and still have probs, you'll have to give more detail about what you're doing.

    MOTU Audio 2408mkII... peoples' opinion?

If you have some technical proficiency/proclivity, building your own is really not incredibley difficult. More a patience issue than anything else. And maybe alot of research choosing components. You learn soooo much from the process. Buying a prebuilt looks good on paper and may be good in...

Delta 1010...no wait, Ardvark Q10somethingorother...hold on, Echo ?Mona? is it?...digidesign Digi001.... Put the names in a hat and go with the draw. There're all good and probably only slightly better than each other in different special categories. Or, you can search around this board and...

Gordon Raphael "the Strokes" 's producer in SOS

Are they famous? I feel so less underground elite now. I hate when eveyone else finds out, ruining a perfectly cool band. ;) Hey, don't forget ABBA!!

Gordon Raphael "the Strokes" 's producer in SOS

I agree with every one of these posts. Rich kids who never would have made it w/o connections, pretensious looks and sound etc. But, I like the sound even if it is lofi, but it does get old. Would have been cool if maybe one song had that vocal thing going, but when it's every song, it...

    Communicating With the Booth!

BTW, you can make the 'Main Mix' knob and 'cntrl room/submix' knob independent by performing modification #3 described in the 1202 manual. Involves just a little soldering.

    Communicating With the Booth!

I use this same setup all the time w/ no probs: [list=1] [1]route the mic through the 3-4 bus(MUTE/ALT 3-4 button down) and, of course Logic's in to the 3-4 outs on the mixer. Set level on 1202 pre to optimum for recording, not mixing. Set mix(currently recording track and prerecorded tracks)...

    Best looking Home studio?

Vox, I just assumed, maybe the vibe of the site gave the impression, that you wrote the text. Either way it's entertaining.

    Best looking Home studio?

Another vote for Vox. Hell, he's the only one who's posted a link. Very Cool site BTW. Funny 3rd person references. Like the font on those links. Had to LOL at the Strat in the desert- kinda campy reverence.

    Cool Studio Lighting

Can you get 12V systems designed for home use? i.e. multiple 40-60 watt bulbs? Where? Or do you have to rig something up from parts?

Microphone Modeling - real world experience?

The latest HomeRecording, April 2002, has an article on Todd Rundgren in which he says he's been using an AKG digital mic alot. " "Obviously the advantage of a mic like that is the digital signal path, which is completly pristine," says Rundgren. "Utilizing that and the supposedly flat...

How to add STC's; and, Sliding Glass Doors

So STC's can simply be added, meaning two of these sliding doors has a combined theoretical STC of 66. Check this link. http://www.soundproofing.org/infopages/soundwalls.html It has a chart that list a double wall (I assume synonymous w/ room within a room) as having an STC of 59. It lists a...

soundproofing.org : Helping or Just Selling?

LOL. I see your point, but just because it transmits in one application, doesn't mean it does when 1/2" thick and screwed down. I can see how someone would guess that it wouldn't be good for soundproofing, but things are not always what they seem. I've yet to see any conclusive comparisons.

How to add STC's; and, Sliding Glass Doors

I've seen posts saying sliding glass doors can be found w/ STC's of 33. What about when you double 'em up? Does this mean the STC doubles? 66?

    Need Critique of Garage Floorplan

Sounds like a perfectly great idea to me. John, I assume you think this would work well. Does anyone else have an opinion? I wonder if many people would have trouble not 'feeling' the drums or their amps. I'll work up a drawing. Damn, I love Smartdraw! This is sooo easy! In the meantime, check...
