    Hard-Drive Setup Question

I use Vegas and sometimes all the proccessing I do to my waves causes the app to not read the data of the hard drive fast enough causing gapping in my audio play back. A solution they suggested was to NOT store all the audio for a project on 1 drive. Reading different waves off different...

    akai s200 help

Say you make 20 key groups. Then you go and assign each key group to a span of keys. Example: making a drum program. assign keygroup 1 from c1 to c1, keygroup 2 from c#1 to c#1, keygroup 3 from d1 to d1, and so on. Then you assing your samples to the keygroups. So if you assign a kick sample...

    sampler setup s2000

In single edit mode you have to create key groups. Then you specify samples you've made to these key groups. I'm not @ my studio right now, but tommorow I will update you with some specifics and where in the mannual you can get started. It took me a while to figure out(the mannual is...

    sampler setup s2000

I don't have an rm1x, and I'm not sure what it is(keyboard? sequencer?) I do have an s2000. Sounds like you wanna control the s2000 w/ the rm1x. Midi should go as follows: Sequencer midi in and out to controller(rm1x?). Sequencer midi out to input of s2000. If the rm1x has a sequencer in...

    IS Hip-Hop going soft------ware????

Ya'll are trippin!! On the subject and away from the bulls$*t....Czar, just because other people have access to the same sounds I have doesn't mean I have to change them. If thats what I want to do then I can. It has more to do with how u use your sounds than what sounds you have. I never...

    set if off

I always draw blank when asked these questions but I'm gonna have to go with: Goodie mob, you know, "who's that peakin in my window...POW!" Pacs 1st joint on All Eyes on Me, "Straight Rider". Thats all that comes to mind right now.

    mpc vs rackmount sampler.

Well, the only rack mount I'm farmiliar w/ is the S2000. A rackmount will work fine as a drum machine for you. Just make sure it is multi timbral. You can make your own drum programs plus other sound programs also. I control my sampler with my keyboard and sequence w/ elogic. I like my set...

    recording cello

I am looking for a good teqnique for recording a cello. I recorded it once and the recording didn't come out too good. I had the mic placed approx 1ft from the upper part of the cello(just above the hole). I had to amplify the sound a lot more than vocals and the noise floor was brought up to...

    I would pay for this

True Yea, that made perfect sense....I still think its a good idea though. Can't expect all the basis to be covered. But for someone who has there gain structure pretty good(or thinks they do) and is ready to get info on mixing, this would be gold! Even if they where to take say ten tracks...

    I would pay for this

A mixing tutorial. I don't know if they already exist, but if some of you more seasoned engineers where to put together some waves to a song, then mix them. Then give a step by step guide as to what you did and why, and allow the "student" to experiment with the same waves and learn from what...

    How to proceed?

thanks for the reply. I will do that next week. I've never made an MP3 before. I assume I can do that with wavelab and just go to ampcast.com and follow the instructions.

    How to proceed?

For the sake of this thread lets pretend my analysis is your analysis and please tell me what ya'll might do in this situation. I have only been mixing for a few months, so please bare with me. I finished a 6 hour mix session last night. The overall mix was better than I've done to this point...

    Where to Compress?

my 2 cents I use a soft limiter while recording to prevent any peaks from distorting and compress in post production.

    Overproducing!! what the ...

Make sure you don't erase the bracets when you post them. On the topic... Fact: Sometimes less is more. Opinion: It is up to whoever is working on the song to decide what is to much. I try to remember this fact while I work on my music, because if I don't I go tooooo far with...

Why use a dat instead of just burning directly to cd??(for mastering or to go straight to the press)

    Do your beats stack up???

I think its about trying to be on the next level. I make beats to mimic whats hot for the time being, but that is more less to make money. Yes, I do think my tracks can hold there own in the current state of Hip Hop, but for me thats not good enough. When I sit down to create I'm tryin to...

    good idea

I would suggest you start small. Get the equip little by little. If you go out and spend 6500$ you will be overwhelmed and it will take you years(litterally) to learn how to get the best results from your DAW. If you start small, and work your way up you will be able to master each...

If your CD-ROM supports digital extraction you can get Jukebox or another similar program to rip the audio to your hd. Go to zdnet.com. Some wave editors will rip audio also. I use Wavelab for this function.

    always compression?

True...A technique I picked up, is to heavily compress my kick drum( like 10:1 ratio, threshold set to taste) using a slow attack w/ a fast release. This really puts a punch in my kick, or any fast attacking instrument I want to punch harder.
