TASCAM 688 MIdiStudio problem with metering and switching on track 3

Looking at it further, it looks like you have to remove the screws from the XLR inputs, the clips that retain the jacks, the other screws at the back of the input panel, remove all pots and fader caps, then the screws at the front of each channel board which hold the frame on which each channel...

TASCAM 688 MIdiStudio problem with metering and switching on track 3

Ah! I see. Thanks for the quick answer. Any tips on removing the buss bar from the mixer panel? It goes right across the board and I'm afraid I might snap a contact by trying to pry it off? I remember the Tascam M3500 had similar buss bars but I think they only connected 4 inputs channels and...

TASCAM 688 MIdiStudio problem with metering and switching on track 3

Thanks Sweetbeats for looking. The part you listed says +/-18v max supply, whch as you say should be enough for the +/-12v of the 688, but lower down it mentions a minimum and maximum dual voltage supply of +/-7.5V. Do you think that may factor in to the choice of 4966 chips? I didn't realise...

TASCAM 688 MIdiStudio problem with metering and switching on track 3

I don't seem to be able to find any 4966 chips except on Ali Express. Do you think these are suitable replacements...

TASCAM 688 MIdiStudio problem with metering and switching on track 3

I recently picked up a Tascam 688. It was advertised as parts only. I had one in the past and wanted to try one again. Anyhow, after fitting a new belt to the unit courtesy of a great video on Youtube, I've discovered there is a problem with the metering /switching on Track 3. The unit records...

    TASCAM M3500....just picked one up!

The wonders of the internet. I haven't been here in a while. With the 'pandemic' (the less said the better) and the loss of my father-in-law in the following July of this restoration (July 2016), looking back now, we seem to have drifted through the last five years. With my autistic son having...

    Should I turn it on?

Thanks Guys....it's takem me a few years to get round to settling on this setup and finding a Solo Midi in good cosmetic condition. The footprint is brilliant, the only thing the mixer lacks is a HPF, but I can live with that.....so I'm going to resist the urge to turn it on......for now. The...

    Should I turn it on?

Thanks for the replies. The waiting is killing me.... Good to know JP that the Blue Dog stuff is working out for you. I am sure the voltages are correct, since all I've really done is remove the Hirose connector that was on the Soundtracs PSU and put it on the Soundcraft PSU. The spade...

    Should I turn it on?

Hi Guys, Long time since I posted as this last year has been a busy year with family commitments. Anyhow between all of that, I've replaced my computer (now has 64Gb RAM and potential for 192Gb). Why so much? I've wanted to get back into Cubase and mocking up orchestral stuff so needed the...

Local TASCAM M-512 bargain, is recapping unavoidable?

Just for your information about whether it's worthwhile, I've been through a fair amount of desks and bought a Tascam M-3500 a couple of years ago. If you search my posts you'll find something about it. I re-capped the supply as well as various bits in the master section. In the end I stopped...

    RMT branded SM911 and SM900

Just lost a post grrrrr. The Zonal I think is a +3 tape. Just looked at the box and the recording says '2 track', length '3hours 15mins'. This is 1" tape on a 10.5" reel. What recorder would run that slow?

    Another Akai MG1212.......

Looks great....though I must confess I love the look of some actual reels spinning round. Any reason you went for the QU24 over say the X32 or the Studiolive Version3?

    RMT branded SM911 and SM900

Hi Doug, Sorry been really busy and just been back here tonight. I just wanted to try a reel of 911 as the engineer who set up the machines said I should be able to hear a difference. PM if you want to sell a reel. Thanks Al

    RMT branded SM911 and SM900

I was just looking on Thomann's site for 1" tape for the Fostex G24S. When I had them reconditioned the engineer set them up for new RMG SM911. I have quite a bit of Quantegy 406 (NOS) and picked up some ZONAL 675 (2nd-hand off Ebay), but want to try a brand new SM911. Thomann have no RMG left...

OVERWHELMING MAJORITY - an audiovisual work

I wonder if there has been any research done over the spiritual decline of not just young people, but older ones too and the slashing of arts budgets in education and the community? I think the arts helps keep people saner....it definitely does with myself, where I think simply the vibrations of...

    Need new smaller mixer

Here's a few pics of the Allen & Heath ML3000 I scored.....it's probably done half a dozen live shows from new......best analogue mixer I've ever used by a long shot. The muting and VCA groups make setting up a mix fairly easy, although I might pipe in a MACKIE Ultramix unit I have with the next...
