    Please advise on new song

Just a quick critique: the guitar needs to be in tune!

    Brace Yourselves...kinda heavy!!!!!!!

Really, really good!!! Vocals sound great! A little level heavy, but it works because it's so upfront and in-your-face. Nice doubling stuff you have in there. Guitars sound excellent. Not much to comment about there! Drums: Personally I'd bring up the kick and snare, and add a lot more...

Man this metal rhythm sounds GREAT !!!

LOL! Actually, I wasn't trying to be a dick. I really like that vintage sound. When I wrote that comment I was thinking about how cool it would be to record that 'era sound' on purpose. Sorry if it came across as flippant. VesuviusJay, in response to the level issue, a common mistake during...

Man this metal rhythm sounds GREAT !!!

From an 'old-school' point of view, you couldn't be more vintage in your mix. Sounds like I could be sitting in my high school parking lot listening to a Nuclear Assault tape on my Radio Shack generic 6x10 car speakers! But today's mix would have a lot more depth. EQing is huge (as everyone...

    Metal heads please view!!

Personally, too much high EQ for me which muddles the sound. Drum kit has the snare EQ'd to high to get any punch, and the same goes for the kick and toms. Cymbals sound great, but the EQ adjustment and some level control would work wonders in the whole mix. Low end on the mix is lost...

OK, finally got it to upload. I don't know why it ended up being such a large file. Need help there I guess...

    Critique Away!!!

I'm still very frustrated with the boundaries of Cakewalk. I was raised and schooled an analog man, so my frustrations might be valid... Written and recorded/mixed within an 8 hour day; the writing process taking about as much time as the recording process (you do the math). Guitar sounds...

    HRC Attempt #1

Thanks, didn't know about the specific rules! Well, there's not much to critique with those limitations! Next step: the real deal and a songwriting check!

    My newest tune: Despair

Very Narada Records... I agree that the 'jazz' label might be misleading. I'd like to see you classify yourself as 'atmosphere' music. Might lend nicely with some background film work... Maybe something you want to look into... Levels are great, guitar does have the hiss, but I think it's...

    HRC Attempt #1

Great song, great arrangement. Drop a bit of reverb off the vocals and learn to compress. With a nice warm mic and some compression, you can add a nice warm 'verb in the post. Volume is OK, as long as you bring up some of the other instrumentation. Accoustic overpowers the rythym a bit, and...

    New One "Our Song"

Total 80's!!! If you'd drop the vocals deeper into the mix with a 80's (cheesy?) reverb to overpower the vox line, this would be the perfect song to play while lifting your boombox over your head to show your woman how much you love her...

    New F*ing Problem!

I think there's a deeper problem here. It's not recognizing my audio card as an input, regardless of what my settings tell me. If I try to select a track and choose it's input, it doesn't give me an audio input choice. Does anyone want to buy a computer? Because I'm as frustrated as a one...

    New F*ing Problem!

OK, I've removed the pop-up that informed me 'Audio Driver Error: The following driver(s) either do not support the current audio format, or are in use by another application'. To do this, I went into Options/Audio/General and selected -none- as the Playback Timing Master. I am now going to...

    New F*ing Problem!

I have the SiS 7012 Audio Driver, MPU-401 Compatable MIDI Driver, A Legacy Audio Driver (Not currently running anything), and a MCI Midi Sequencer card. Which one should I be using for Sonar. Do I set the Legacy up to run the Sonar? And if so, how?

    New F*ing Problem!

OK, I upgraded to Sonar 2.0 XL. From CWPA9. Great. Super. Now I'm getting this message: "The following driver either do not support the current audio format, or are in use by another application. Please choose whether you want to disable them or use them anyway. Driver: SiS 7012 Wave"...

    WIN 32 Error

In the last few days I've been getting a WIN 32 error when I try to get into the effects. I'm frustrated!!! I think my computer has suddenly stopped recognizing these file types (.ax, .cnt, etc.). Is my computer missing something? BTW, I'm running XP on a HP.
