I bet you could get something good if you have a nice amp, try them all.

Is this radio promo worth a damn?

That's the main thing I was thinking, I guess I should take out the over the top reverb... flattered the voice a bit. The mod, is just new tubes and a new speaker. Mainly I put that on my website since many bands I work with have terrible guitar amps and I always try to convince them to use my...

    Mastering for Radio

Exactly, there seems to be a "radio ready" misconception. But the station will smash everything to the same volume. I did some mixes that were way quieter than any professional mixed albums of the same genre, and when it got played on the radio it actually sounded better.

    Under Rated Drummers!

John Paul Gaster - Clutch Brant Bjork - Kyuss, Fu Manchu never heard of them untill I heard their bands, and they rock.

    Mono Mix

Pro mixers almost always will check in mono, from what I have seen and heard. One way to help doubled guitars sound a little better in mono is to switch up the tones a bit. Change pickups, or amp settings, or guitars, or all three and re-track it. This way there is not quite as much...

    CONTROL Lo end

Low end can build up quickly in a mix, try high passing some instruments that don't need the super low end like guitars, even sometimes bass, vocals and maybe snare or some drum tracks.

How to get to CD volume

Generally high volume mixes are greated with limiting in the mastering stage, but to do this correctly you usually need to have some skill at the craft in order to get it as loud as commercial stuff. But yes, compression, EQ, and I'm sure other stuff can be involved as well.

Maybe I'm just stupid, but you may need to elaborate on that.

    two soundcards at once?

How do you do this, just out of curiosity? Just hook up the spdif out to the in on another card? Do you need to change the settings to anything besides spdif for the wordclock. I swear I have read the manual and couldn't find info about it.

    digi 002?

I wouldn't think it would be that huge of a difference, unless you wanna switch to pro tools, then yes, go for the digi 002. If you like the program you are currently running, save you money and stick with motu.

    A metal tune

Oh yeah, no tom mics were used, as I didn't have enough to cover all of them. All band issues aside, is this a recording worth charging for? Also, the blast beat does sound a little muddy to say the least, but I'm not using any triggers or anything and I'm going to try to stick with the real...

    A metal tune

A metal tune. This is a demo tune I recorded for a band. I charged them $10 an hour for two songs, and they took about 10 hours total (so $100 total). Let me know if you think this is fair. It's kind of old school thrash / death, but this one has a slower main riff. The performance isn't 100%...

S/P DIF vs Regular on my Delta 1010

I use the spdif so I can have an extra channel. Now I can do 9 channels simultaneously instead of 8, and if I get one more digital pre, I'll be able to do 10.

    Stevie Ray Vaughn Sound

I guess we're talking about different things here, I'm just talking about his sound in general. I think it was all in his hands. You're right, it didn't sound like the distortion from his electric, but it sounded like him.

    Stevie Ray Vaughn Sound

I don't know, I've heard him play acoustic, and I would agree that it's pretty much all in his hands.

    Stevie Ray Vaughn Sound

yeah, SRV is a perfect example of this exact same principle, the sounds you get are gonna depend on the player. But it does help to play 12-14 gauge strings. He also plays with his pick turned sideways, for a slightly fatter tone. I don't think he actually had scalloped frets. But your not...
