Ok, to keep a long story short, I used to have the Firebox interface to go along with my KSM27 microphone and I really liked the quality but had to sell my Firebox for other reasons. Couple months later I got a EMU 1820 interface for the mic and the quality isnt as good to me on the vocals...
Just wondering if anybody has tried it and if so on which mic? How do you like the sound...I'm thinking it would be a good upgrade to the preamps on my EMU 1820.
Yea it sounds great and GC has em for 300 now (also might wanna try sam ash)....it would be a good upgrade over the audiophile...and yea, I love my ksm lol.
lol I was given this desk because my old one was too small for my shit. These RP5's are really nice. My girl bought em for me the other day. They have more bass response than I thought theyd have for the size. I wanted the RP8s but she wasnt gonna spend that much on me lol. I love these...
Im asking because I do have monster cables hooked up to my krk rp5 monitors and the sound is clear (was also clear on my generic cables from what i could hear). And I Was thinking about upgrading my generic xlr cable hooked up to my microphone to maybe some mogami or canare cables....would that...
I have a small little setup...
KSM27 Microphone
EMU Xboard 61 Midi Controller
EMU 1820 Recording Interface
KRK RP5 Studio Monitors with monster cables..
19" Wide Screen LCD Display

Personally I have the Shure KSM27 microphone and was able to talk guitar center down to $250 for it....its a great mic. Im pretty sure the mxl990 is like the cheapest condensor out there so u cant expect much from it (it was my first condenser also). But like the other guys said the most...
yeah i know its not the 1820m, but i love it, it has great sound for the price...more ins and outs than i would ever need...sounds alot cleaner than the saffire too.
$100 for a 512 stick is a rip off. Do a system scan on crucial.com and itll tell u what type of ram your system takes... On newegg you can get a 1GB stick for 70-80 dollars.. Never buy ram direct from your computer manufacturer unless u got money like that
Its very easy.. I have 1 gig right now and I still run out of memory when using proteus x sound module inside fruityloops. This website shows u exactly how to install ram http://www.fonerbooks.com/r_ram.htm . I buy all of my ram from www.newegg.com. Check it out. If you dont know what type...
If ur gonna be doin beats n shit u wanna make sure u got atleast 1GB ram..2GB is ur gonna be usin alot of vst's n shit...but atleast 1GB is a must...go with a pentium 4 2.8ghz atleast or atleast a AMD 64 3400...you also want a huge hard drive atleast 200gb (just to start with, add more later)
I've been using cool edit for a few years now and decided it was time to move on to some real DAW software such as Cubase or Sonar (starting with the LE versions that came with my EMU 1820). The noise reduction on cool edit was pretty easy. The X-Noise feautre in waves is pretty confusing...
Its called learning how to mix. Of course its gonna sound plane with just raw vocals and nothing done to em. And u also need great equipment like johnny said,.
I just returned my Focusrite Saffire to GC (it was kinda unstable for me, rebooted itself outta no where alot)...found out they had a EMU 1820 for $300 on closeout because they said its about to be discontinued....I think its a GREAT value at $299.99...anyone interested may wanna call their Sam...
