    The Dirt Cheap Acoustic Quest

I am a big fan of Yamaha acoustics. I bought the FM-450s I believe the model is. It was almost 4 bills new, but worth every penny. It has sycamore back and sides, spruce top, fancy tuners and plays like butter. I recently slapped some Martin "Clapton's Choice" strings on there and it's better...

want to find somehting to solo to

Next time your in GC pick up one of the "Band in the Pocket" CD's. I have a few and they are great to jamm over. Exteneded songs with nice grooves. http://www.fivefeathers.com/

a question for you fine folks....

I would bet they were purchased from a GC or somewhere else. I doubt they were direct shipped from Gibson. I don't think Gibson would even talk to you unless you were talking quantities of 100+ per order.

a question for you fine folks....

I doubt you could compete selling major brand names. GC buys in such quantities they can afford to discount. Besides, Gibson would probably only sell in large quantities. That puts them out of the reach of most smaller stores. I have always felt brands like Washburn, Schecter and ESP are...

    Anyone have the Fender G-DEC?

I bought a G-DEC when they first came out. It's a blast to jam along with. They have a few different models now, I like the little junior model: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-GDEC-Junior-15-Watt-1x8-Combo-Amp?sku=485051

    Martin Guitar Tour

No doubt, I was refering to the custom stuff you see in the pics. The hydraulic guitar holders with suction cups are all their own custom creations. I wasn't suggesting the larger stuff was made in house.

    Martin Guitar Tour

Sorry, the stabilization problem is my kids. I let them take the museum pics. When I go back I will make sure to get some clearer pics. The kids loved the tour, they had wireless headsets so you could hear the guide nice and clearly. That was a nice feature.

    Martin Guitar Tour

Same here, I am 20 minutes from Nazareth on the Jersey side. I was off last week and decided to finally do it. I highly recommend it if you can find the time. When I went it was about 2:30 and most workers had already left. The tour guide said they start early and finish around 2:15. I like...

    Martin Guitar Tour

I was on vacation last week and did something I always wanted to do, tour the Martin Factory. My website is down for a redesign so I put photos from my tour up there for your enjoyment. Here's a few Martin quick facts from the tour: They ship on average 250 guitars a day, M-F. They build...

    French polish?

Personally I would go with some high-gloss tung oil. Rub in a light coat, let dry. Buff with some super fine steel wool # 0000 and repeat until desired gloss is reached.

    Painting my Floyd Rose bridge

Why don't you just use black touch up paint for cars? That has to be more durable than nail polish and you can feel manly buying it.. Personally I would leave the chips, it adds to the character. Plus when you go to sell it on e-bay you can call the bridge reliced..

    the right pick?

I will second the Snarling Dog's!! I also like the Dunlop Jazz III picks, purely for attack.

    Increase sustain

If it's the guitar itself that lacks sustain try some Tone Pros locking studs. I add them to every guitar I have. Plus it's a bonus to not have the tailpiece fall off during string changes!!
