Interface companies w/ the best driver(s)

That makes since. I imagine every product from Tascam from this point forward will be 7/64 compatible. I know some people think 7 is just like Vista, but the MDAC changes in the kernal make it unique. It requires a whole new driver.

    Vocal Mic

Another plug for the RE-20.....if it's good enough for Thom Yorke, it's plenty good for me! See here: Radiohead - The King of Limbs live from the basement 2011 - BBC on Vimeo *EDIT. I have the c214, too and it's wonderful... but I prefer the RE20 for vocals. Opinions vary.....

    S/PDIF out OR Optical out

Thank you, I appreciate that. It's hard to sound informative without sounding like an asshole...the whole web syntax thing. And I agree with you that cheap optical cables will far outperform a cheap coax...no doubt about it.

Interface companies w/ the best driver(s)

I've often heard that, which is what led me to buy a Tascam interface....but something about my win7/64 didn't jive. Sure, I had the latest driver DL from Tascam, but still the glitches. I will say that it probably works beautifully with 32, or maybe it works with everyone else but ME...but it...

    S/PDIF out OR Optical out

I think so. Read a few white papers. Like this one. Note how even fiber optic manufacturers (like AussieCom there in Australia- my father in law was once on the board) do not say "immune" to electromagnetic fields. They often, and correctly, say 'resistant'. And the main reason for it's...

Interface companies w/ the best driver(s)

From what I can gather, RME gear is famous for driver stability/simplicity. Sound Devices, too.

    Get any new pedals lately?

I'm drooling over the Strymon Timeline. I don't have one, but I sure do want one.

    Recommendations Wanted for Audio Interface

"I have been trying to use with my Mac Pro for the past 4 years. So, I am now ready to acknowledge that the Presonus will not work consistently...." You don't give up easily, do you? :)

Found by accident: Hard hitting "in your chest" beat.

Screwing around with the guitar the other night I discovered something potentially useful. I pulled up hard on my low E and let it slap against my single coil pickup (Tele) while recording. I did it several times. I went back to look at the soundwaves and picked the one with the most abrupt...

No Sounds when previewing audio in Cubase

Cool. So you're up and running, now? You probably clipped, and it muted your headphone out to save your ears. Or.....who knows(!?). Later. Drone.

I know where you're coming from; I've had similar problems, and it can be very frustrating.

Ah yes, I suppose we should have sorted that first! What operating system are you using?

No Sounds when previewing audio in Cubase

Just humor me and check that in device manager- your Motu is seen as the Speaker out (not the headphone out). Better yet, click your sound icon on the lower right of your taskbar (what you use to adjust the computer's volume) and what sort of icon does it have at the top of the sound bar? Hover...

If a USB interface is bus-powered,

The RME Babyface can utilize two simultaneous USB inputs [to handle the phantom pre(s)] if need be.

No Sounds when previewing audio in Cubase

Can you hear audio through your 'phones while working in Cubase?
  17. Drone_21042

No Sounds when previewing audio in Cubase

First and foremost- make sure the Motu unit is on. If you plug your phones into your interface (you likely do) you want to do what was suggested above^ which is to set your interface as the default audio output device. After you do that, device manager will see your interface as the "speakers"...

I need a new approach; Things ain't workin'.

.....specifically, my interface. Totally green, I just started with a Tascam US2000 interface not more than 2 weeks ago. Already, I feel the need to do better. Reasons why I don't like the US2000: 1. The pres. They sounded good initially, but now I'm stating to be underwhelmed. I started...
