Its been awhile since I looked at recording software. And after returning to the PC land I'm curious to know which recorder/editor combo has the most to offer?

Me personally, I like the Yamaha AW4416. But its about $ 2400. For around $ 1500, I would look at the Korg D-1600 or the Akai DPS 16. I despise Roland products (too complicated & confusing) and I would only consider a rackmount recorder from Fostex. But, thats just my opinion.

I need advice on getting cleaner vocals. I've listened to some of the songs I have recorded and the music sounds good but the vocals don't. I've been using a Rode NT3 with an ART tube pre-amp going into the mixer un-processed then to the HD recorder.

Phillips make the worst CD recorders! I 've had 3, the CDR-775 (broke the 1st day), the CDR-770 (still have that one, but it it sees limited use), and a Phillips computer burner (broke the 2nd week). If I were you, I'd go with a different make.

I've been using a NT3 with the Art MP Tube for vocals and it sounds real good. What equipment are you using yours with?
