There seems here to be a lot of people who will DI the bass as a standard way or recording. And that is all they will do. What a shame it is as you are missing out on a whole world of sounds.
DI bass is fine and will give you a good sounding bass, unfortunatly it will be a prety boring...
this isn't strictly true. The old reslo ribbon mics were supplied with thin foam-like sheets to place behind the grill which changed the frequency reponse of the mic.
just me two bobs worth
OK I've sorted it.
I downloaded a copy of the service manual for $25
Put the wires where they should be and evenyally found that the switch was broken. Fixed the switch and all is good.
If anyone needs a copy of the manual PM me and it's yours

Yeah it is thinner but it seems to work just fine. It's fuji tape but I can't remember the numbers at the mo so I'll post when I get home from work. I work for a production company that supplies music audio and video for various things and they used to use 1" and 2" video machines which are...

Hi kids,
Most of the gear I record with is british made (itam 8 track, brenell mini 8, brenell 2track, zoot horn mixer), so I thought it would be cool to find a bunch of british mics and other outboard gear.

You can get switch cleaner from any electrical suppliers. It comes in an aerosol can and comes with a straw so you can get right in there. The spray will clean out the crap from the switch casing, and will also lubricate the contacts.
Give all of your switches and pots a good going over with...

They Are adjustable for a reason, plus if you do wish to check the tape alignment it isn't that difficult.
Get an alignment tape...

Clean the switches first, see if that fixes the problem. If not get it checked out by a pro then learn how to keep it good order from there
Just a quick thought...

Just a thought anyhow...

I'm not sure which boards i should be checking (transport, playback/record, etc.). I'm thinking there will be a faulty cap, but were talking a shit-load of caps in there.
Can...
