Dunlop GCB95 with three resistors changed. Total cost ~$35 for a used pedal plus <$1 for three resistors. It's amazing what potential the circuit has given the way they ship it. Stock it's a good wah sound, but with small mods, it is an awesome sound.

You've isolated the problem in the circuit to the springs or before. If you think it's the solder or connections, check the reverb input connections; next thing to look at is the reverb input drivers.

A good point about compensation: there are bottlenecks in the chain and it's easier to cut sound later than add sound later, in particular with top end. If you start with a dark(er) pickup it's difficult to get top end back later, while if you start witha bright(er) pickup it's easier to cut...

Thanks for the tip, inserting the VSC DXi gets the MIDI working. It calls up a window prompting creation of a MIDI source track and first synth output (audio). Is there a way to get those tracks w/o having the VSC synth track? Couldn't find the MME/WDM button on Options|Audio...is it...
