    I love solid state.........again.

While I'm not much of a gear snob (I can't really afford to be.) The only amps I've owned that I really loved were tube amps. But . . . If i'm ever rich, i'll definately end up getting a JC-120. Those things are so amazing!!! (or even the smaller JCs are nice.)

    EHX Big Muff Germanium 4

I'm a blues/rock/country player. (Well I try to play all of those, I don't do much justice to any of them.) I got the Big Muff mainly for the distortion side and the fact that it was basically two pedals in one. I love EHX pedals, I always have. So, I dunno. Thanks for the info though.

    EHX Big Muff Germanium 4

I just got my rig all set up. Heading into my amp is a Big Muff germanium 4 distortion/drive pedal. I read one review where the guy said the drive was pointless and useless. I have to admit I'm having a hard time dialing in a drive sound with it. I can make it operate like a bright switch, a...

Cheap Tube Amp for recording? / Low volume recording / Importance of room

I'd definately say Vox AC4. It's got gorgeous tone, it's light, and has three wattage modes. Not expensive at all. Look into it!!!

    Yamaha FG-700S

What does "entry level" guitar mean? I have never understood that? Is it supposed to be a statement on features or a statement on quality (or lack thereof)? Just curious. Thanks.

    Yamaha FG-700S

I know this is the "electric forum" but they are merging so I thought I'd post this here. If you are looking for an inexpensive acoustic I highly recomend that you try out the Yamaha FG-700S. It's a dreadnaught body with a solid spruce top. I'm not a gear head really, so I don't know all of the...

    DC into AC synth

My Alesis micron came in and it was missing the power supply (which I knew.) I called radio shack, told them what I needed, and they told me to come in and pick it up. I should have checked it but I didn't. The Micron requires 9V 1.5A of AC power. The adapter was DC. It powered on, but produced...

IS this an LFO at work?

Cool so at least I'm not a total idiot! Thanks man.

IS this an LFO at work?

Am I hearing something wrong in the example video then? There is a vibrato type effect that starts slower and gets faster on each note. I will look into getting those books. My point was that I'm not trying to copy this dudes sounds (though he gets some really cool ones) I just wanted to know...

IS this an LFO at work?

Yeah, he changes a lot. I didn't know you could set an LFO to speed up like that without moving a knob!!! Like I said, I'm just trying to understand the concepts at play here. I'm excited to get my micron on Friday! I'm sure tons of questions will follow. Thanks diggy!!

IS this an LFO at work?

I don't want to copy this guys sound. (I guess a lot of people try to "decode" other peoples patches.) But I am curious if the part of the sound that speeds up on each note is an example of an LFO at work or is it another effect? YouTube - Alesis Micron Complex FM Pad I am getting my first...

    Rate my lyrics please.

Here is my take on the lyrics. When I review I try to be honest. Nothing I say is intended to be "mean" or an "asshole" take the comments as you will. Your first few lines should define what the song is about. You start out talking to a broad audience saying you lost "people" later you shift to...

Which comes first, the music or the lyrics?

Most of the time my lyrics are first. For me, songs are about stories and/or points. So I start there. Then a lot of times I'll be noodling on guitar and think "hey this is a good fit for this one set of lyrics." If they work together cool. If not, then I scrap that combination and move forward...

Guitar Rig 4 a suitable allternative to owning a crappy amp?

I guess I'm confused why you would want a 50-150watt amp for recording? I'm not an expert, but that just seems extreme. Yeah, if you like it go for it. I used to say "fuck that" but now, not so much. Go for it if that's what you want. But, i'd say try a lower wattage amp instead too. Try a...

    Tascam 238

LOL!!!! I can see some guy with his first turn-table trying to get it to "shuffle" thinking he invented scratching!!!!! (I know, not a walkman, still)

    4 Mic set up, Help!

Again though, why do you want four seperate vocal inputs? If you're doing A'cappela type music, one or two mics would be sufficient and, in my view, better. The more you track together mixing vocally instead of mechanically the better the end result. This is just my view, take it as you will.

    4 Mic set up, Help!

Unless you get the MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 you are only going to get a stereo mix down. (which I don't think is a bad thing.) Basically you set up your mics, get your levels to sound how you want them witht the panning the way you want them and whatever you get out of the main output is what you get...

    "Faking" it with Drums

Try using E-Drums. You get the action (and practice) of playing drums but without all the noise. Plus you have a built in "HUMANIZER"!!! I'm about to buy an Alesis DM5 which (to my ears) sounds damn good. You can also record the MIDI from the performance, then play it back later. The benefit of...
