Newest Mix - Ballad Style bit

First off, I'm super new at mixing so please take anything I say with a grain of salt. Mix of slow jam: I like the guitar sound in the intro. Very cool. The whole band comes in and I think the bass is a bit overwhelming. (I'm listening on cans, so that could taint it.) I agree, the...

    Rock Mix (practice)

Thank you for the input. I should have been a bit more specific. I had nothing to do with the writing/recording of this song. Mixoff.org is a site where people/bands post raw tracks so people can practice mixing. I truly hope that, when you say "your stuff is excellently put together and...

    A difficult decision . . . and a question

Well, I guess I'm horrible at communicating. I want to be able to go out and track, then come back and have my board/FX/etc. So the board would stay at the studio for remote sessions I'd just use the interface. Sorry. But thank you for all of the information.

    A difficult decision . . . and a question

I guess I don't understand this question. Sorry. I definately would prefer to use, say a Delta 1010. However, I'm mostly thinking/working towards my time in Korea (which I hope will be coming up soon.) So I'll do guitars/bass/keys in my room, then I'll have access to drums/pianos other places...

    A difficult decision . . . and a question

Miroslav, what A/D/A cards are you using? I was looking at one of the 8x8 firewire interfaces. I really need portability, but I could build a rack with my stuff that would portable.

    A difficult decision . . . and a question

Yeah, that makes sense. I guess, I'm just kinda.....dumb. So your saying . . . record X number of tracks then at mixdown time, use 8 sub groups from the DAW to the board for summing/mixing. Word. What boards would you recomend with inserts on each channel and at least one send...

    A difficult decision . . . and a question

I was going to bounce so that my 8input board could keep up with the computer has running. I'm thinking 3-500 for the board. I'm thinking an old tascam or something.

    A difficult decision . . . and a question

Ok, I know I spend a lot of time asking questions about eventual rigs. I hate this more than you do. I promise. My life is starting to change and to open up a bit. As a result of this I'm strongly leaning towards getting back into recording. Here's the sad part . . . I don't see a way for me...

Couple of questions on Tascam FW-1884

I'm starting to strongly consider investing in a decent digital rig. I love the idea of analog, but I'm realizing that I have neither the time nor the money/space to invest in it right now. I'm really drawn to the FW1884. I want to be hands on. I can get them used between $4-500. A few...

How do i set up Busses in Reaper?

I've been using folders a lot lately. BUt I'm searching for a contol surface so I wanted to uses buses too, so that it's easier to use a limited fader count. Thanks for the info. (I'd used the I/O function for reverb sends, but never for a "submix" type bus.) Cool idea. Thanks.

    Alternatives to Alesis HD24/Mackie SDR24

I'm very excited by both the D-108 and the 160. I think I might splurge (when I get that far) and go with the 160 but who knows. Do you have any experience with these? Thanks for sharing.

    Alternatives to Alesis HD24/Mackie SDR24

I really love the idea of working with tape. I am, however, coming to grips with the facts: i have neither the time, space, nor money to invest in an analog set up. I want a recorder that gets out of my way. I don't really want an all-in-one unit. I want to be able to use outboard effects, add...

    Building My Studio...Where to Start?

The standard response to this question is..... What do you think is lacking? What are you not getting out of your rig that you want to? Beyond that... Monitors and Room Treatments. Those will change everything for the better.
