I've been mixing this track for some time now that's been giving me trouble. The trouble is, the other MC's vocals are clean and clear, but mine sound metallic, more compressed, and less clear. I have the same effects applied, so it's obviously originating from my recording spot. I've been EQing...

The thing is, it seems it depends on the effects used. I can have a session with 12 tracks that runs smoothly, and one with 8 that runs slower. It's a real pain, especially since I have a music computer made for recording. There's plenty of memory and room.

What do you mean by 3k mark? 3rd hook? I'll boost the lo-range on the beat, but unfortunately I'm using a instrumental track whose original session was lost by the beat maker's failed hard drive, so that's all I can think of to do to add bass. As far as the room, I have most back up vocals...

Thanks, I really like the constant sound rich in mids reference idea. Never thought of that before. I've spent some time now muting the music to hear just the vocals, which is how I've even gotten remotely close with the vocal levels. I'll try on your advice.

I like how this sounds...just "Liked" it (musicbyproseed). I agree with above...maybe a little more boom from the bass and drums. Other than that, mixed very well.

I like those ideas...I actually ended up adding different vocal tones and I think it sounds better...the production/instrumentation was not done by me, and was part of a collection of tracks whose original framework and sessions were lost, but I may be able to add some stuff myself. You didn't...

Really depends on the genre/room required. I do hip hop...don't need much, although I'd like more and would like a room dedicated to it, or at least partially dedicated to it, if I had the room.

Never used a Mac...for all the crap PCs take in terms of criticism in this area, I find it's the program/software that really counts. I use Reason, which is very intuitive and easy to work with, and Adobe (before that Cool Edit) and think it works great, despite some slow responses in playback...

Anyone know of some ways to improve the timeliness of playback on Adobe? Some sessions take 15-20 seconds to start. freezing tracks rarely helps from my experience.
