    Recording off a A&H GL2200???

There are no doubt some here with some hands-on familiarity with the GL2200, but from my look, it appears the limiting factor is your recorder, not your board. Go here: GL2200 | ALLEN & HEATH // WORLD CLASS MIXING and download/print some of the documents on the board- it appears A&H made a...

Can a carpeted room be overcome?

I'd think that plastic sheeting or office chair pads would be a PITA to deal with- I'd think they would be noisy when being walked on, and would not stay in place. Plywood/MDF could be cut to fit, so that the pieces meet at the seams and hold themselves in place, and the only noise would be...

    Building a desk! NEED HELP!!

HSG is right- painting and padding is for down the line- but when you are ready to paint, I'd suggest that one liter or quart of semi-gloss black enamel, from a house-paint store will be the best. Latex is easier to apply and clean up, but will get easily scratched off those plastic veneers on...

"What's that board in the corner?"

The Tru-Oil finish looks good. I've never used it, but as I recall it's a blend of boiled Linseed oil (BLO) and shellac. I refinished a Hammond organ from 1964 by removing the soft lacquer and applying coat after coat after coat of Tung Oil. The drill for tung oil is "one coat an hour for a...

Time to go old-skool in this thread: Gallien-Kruger GK250ML Peavey Wolfgang through Gallien Krueger 250ML - YouTube Oh, sure, it does not have three channels, but it meets at least some of the other needs: Works in the bedroom with it's HD on-board 6" speakers, drives a true 100 watts (50X2)...

    linking two reel to reels?

I know of no analog time-sync device that would work with your R2R's- but if there is one, they usually suck up one of the tracks for the sync, so if your decks are all 2-track, you gain nothing. If they are 4-track, you would end up with 6 tracks- but I don't think that is worth the trouble or...

Do you know the difference bwteen coil splitting and coil tapping? I didn't

I feel like the dumbest guy in the room. DUMB THINKING #1: I really didn't know the difference, either, but it makes perfect sense- guitar pickups and electrical transformers are built very much the same way, and transformers often have different "tap points." I know about tranformer coil...

    opinions on versatile amp

(Peers just over the edge of a solid concrete barricade...) I don't think such an animal exist. Every guitarist wants one, every amp maker to ever come down the pike takes a stab or two at it but they ALWAYS miss the mark, and the search goes on... (Ducking down behind the concrete, again...)

    Feelin stupid re: ac/dc wallwarts

I have experience with AD and DC wall warts. What has been said is true- you need an AC wall wart. Of course, pay attention to the other specs, esp. the amperage rating (1000ma is 1 amp.) You can go with a wart that produces MORE than 1000ma, but don't risk trying one that puts out LESS than...

    ADAT XT 20 Help

We've had ADAT's. Cool application of the technology, but they have their limitations. Most errors are caused by limitations of the tape transport mechinism, which seem to cause the digital encoding system to not be able to record the digital code to the S-VHS tape, so Track Rat's suggestion...
