I'm new to Sonar and am going through the tutorials right now. I have no MIDI equipment, but the first tutorial file uses a project with nothing but MIDI files. I don't get any playback. I have the Audiophile 2496 and the OUTS on each track are set to 1- Delta AP Midi All the midi drivers...

You can't compare the 2496 with the 66. It depends on what your NEEDS are. The 2496 is much cheaper (it's what i have) but if you just need 2 trk recording...it's much better bang for the buck. Get it? so you'll have to say what you're doing.

Thanks for the reply. Found the problem. BAD XLR CABLE. I'm so new at this I assumed these things never went bad. Anyway. picked up a nice monster cable from GC and the mic sounds great now. Look forward to recording with it.

My mixer has as Insert for each channel that the effects unit plugs into. Don't know what kind you have or if this is standard. But it sure sounds like a long way to travel from mic to recorder in your example. kt

OK, just went out to GC and the mic is fine. I guess my options are to get my phantom power fixed on the mixer or buy a mic pre. What do you guys suggest? Oh yea, also, if disconnect the cable from my mic with the phantom power still on, does that screw up the mic?
